The Fat4 are Bianca Wiegard, Rachael Cotra, Kym Purtell and Sarah Hamilton.
Their first store, located in Fitzroy and affectionately known as Fat 52, opened in 1998 and was an unprecedented success. Eighteen months later another Fat shop was launched, this time on the other side of the river at 272 Chapel Street Prahran.
After eight years in operation Fat continues to grow. In 2004 The Fat4
opened in Melbourne’s heritage-listed GPO building and have recently relocated their beloved first store to 209 Brunswick Street Fitzroy.
Each Fat shop is a unique space designed to echo the qualities of the clothing found there: original, engaging and innovative. The Fat4’s commitment to arresting and iconoclastic contemporary design has cemented their reputation for devising some of Melbourne’s most
creative and exciting retail spaces.
In December 2006 the Fat aesthetic arrived at the mall – the fourth store FAT store is now open at the Chadstone shopping centre, south east of Melbourne.
