I am not a big TV watcher...I would rather go for a walk or read...however, I will admit...I watch soap operas sometimes.... I am not ashamed...family guy, that 70s show...when I do watch TV it is either the discovery channel, animal planet, or the history channel...I really like all of the adventurous reality shows like deadliest catch and the alaska experiment.
I JUST READ THREE CUPS OF TEA (amazing!) two books by Arlene Blum: Breaking Trail-A Climbing Life and Annapurna: A Womans Place, (love books about women and mountaineering) Jon Krakauer novels, especially Into the Wild....it ispired my alaska trip in some strange way. Also, everything by vonnegut. And recently, I have fallen in LOVEEE with the wonderful Afghan/American novelist, Khaled Hosseini, and his two novels: The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns...Vladimir Nabokov is a great writer...for my light-hearted side, Augusten Burroughs is also one of my favored authors, Savage Summit: The Life and Death of the First Women of K2

I also look up to Sarah Faulker-the first female rescue swimmer for the USCG, her accomplishment inspires me in a way no one else does..and regular people who have gone a step beyond what they believed their physical and mental capabilities to be in order to do something great, Lilliane Barrard...Wanda Rutkiewicz...Julie Tullis...Chantal Mauduit...and Alison Hargreaves! Arlene Blum, and I cannot forget Chris Warner-I recently met him!!!!!!!!...I attended one of his presentations about his K2 summit and got the chance to talk to him for a few minutes and ask him some questions afterwards...I emailed him afterwards about a few things as well and he responded, asking me to let him know when I give my first talk about my future expeditions!...him saying that to me was better than christmas
