I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I am born and raised in NY (from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn - to be specific). I love my hometown - and I am a proud New Yorker. I talk fast, I eat fast, I live fast, I AM fast - but it's all an attempt to live as much life as I can. I love the way New Yorkers can hop in and out of subways and jam-pack their days with productivity. But, I have to admit, that being a busy bee sometimes gets the best of me... and I forget to smell the roses... which is why I have good friends who make me stop and ENJOY my productive life.I am an only child - so friends are very important to me. They've become my brothers and sisters - especially my friends and colleagues in the theatre community. I think it's why I'm in show-biz... INSTANT family. I am especially proud to be part of the Asian acting community. Having been in two all-Asian casts on Broadway (Flower Drum Song, Pacific Overtures), my cast mates have become closer to me than blood relatives. As a performer, you spend SO much time in the theatre together that you end up knowing your cast mates better than your own family.I love theatre. Sometimes, while I'm in rehearsals for a show or taking a bow at curtain call, I stop myself and realize how lucky I am that THIS IS MY JOB. I get to fulfill my dreams and live my life passionately. I am so thankful to be in the arts and to be a part of the creative process. I am an actor now, but I think down the line, my goals will change. I've dabbled in teaching, and that really fulfills me... so consider this period of acting in my youth the re-charging of my creative battery... a preperation for what I really want to do... which is give it all back to others... whether it's teaching, or being a manager / agent, a casting director... I don't think I'm destined to perform forever, and that's alright -- but boy! Am I gonna enjoy the ride now... Theatre is about genorosity. It's about sharing with others. I think I can be MOST effective in this world giving back and sharing all the blessings I've been given as a performer.I have a wonderful family. Mom and Dad are both immigrant parents from China who only want the best for me... and often times, their goals for me culture-clash with my goals in the arts. Let's just say our generation gap is wider than most... as WIDE AS THE OCEAN BETWEEN AMERICA AND CHINA (to those second-generation folks reading this, you know what I'm talking about). But, I love them and I know they love me.I am very much in love...
