Singer-songwriter and artist Laura Lisbeth of Kansas City creates a fetching synthesis of folk and country that leads you over emotional terrain nowhere near as smooth as her warm vocals and rich, companionable guitar. Laura’s engaging melodies and soulful lyrics leave you feeling as if the contemplation of heartbreak, sadness, and the search for meaning is a beautiful and worthy exercise. Laura's acoustic guitar provides a country/folk feel to her music, but she draws from a wide range of influences, from Mary Chapin Carpenter to Paul Simon to Bonnie Raitt to Shawn Colvin. She began her singing career at the tender age of three when she learned her first song. By the age of five Laura was memorizing the words to Beatles’ hits and deeply in love with Paul McCartney. Laura combines her love of poetry and meaningful lyrics with songwriting to create a form of musical poetry, covering topics that explore the far reaches of the heart and the search for meaning in every day life. With her warm and inviting vocals drawing you in like a trusted friend, her poignant lyrics and moving melodies weave stories that touch on the beauty and sadness of the human experience. Laura regularly performs her music in venues around the Kansas City area and hosts the monthly Parkville Songwriter’s Night. She has been featured as a guest on KKFI’s Coffee House Radio. HIT THE GROUND RUNNING is Laura’s first CD project, produced by Elders’ band member Steve Phillips at his studio, Big Time Productions in Kansas City, Missouri. The song "McCallister Road", which is included on the CD, received an Honorable Mention in the 2007 Singer/Songwriter Awards Round 5.
