IT..S NOT ABOUT THE MIX. I was born in West Sussex in 1966.I developed a passion for music at a early age, and thanks to the influence of my Older sisters . I started buying records in about 77,Ian Dury New Boots & Panties was one of the first I think? I..ve still got my original copy. I..ts scratched to bits now ,about the same time I started listening to the Disco records my sisters were buying.Around the age of 16 or 17 I got hold of a couple of belt drive turntables and mixer That a friend made for me, and Inspired by Grand master flash..s Adventures on the wheels of steel I started learning to mix,I..m still learning,You never stop.I..m not interested in DJs with Inflated egos and bad habits,that play the same relentess crap just because the beats match ,for self gratification and money. To me DJing is all about sharing music with people,Even if It..s half a dozen or even one. Music should be well presented,and programed but at the same time interesting and fresh. The idea of mixing isnt just to run to tracks together simultaneously, but to make the music connect in a way that each track complements the other.Paint pictures with sound,and build an atmosphere. Respect the recording and dont speed tracks up too much. Dont be a one gear DJ,and please dont do spin backs, nobody does that anymore. All the mixes on this page are live, by that I mean mixed live on CD or vinyl,the way they would sound in a live situation and not on a mac using pro tools. ....TBC
