I like to write, travel and snowboard - that's my life and I've ambitions to hike Macchu Piccu and visit Easter Island - plus to chill in a fresh Cuban Jazz club. The world is my lobster as I was once told...
CANADA: Preceding uni came six months sessioning the slopes of Banff in the Canadian Rockies, where stemmed my addiction to the snow... I'll never forget Kokanees in the sunshine, BBQs at Trappers, Slush Cup, Church at Rose&Crown (!), Barbary Coast, keg parties in the forest (where the cops turn up, then just drive off while we're having a 30 person strong jam to Tom Petty's Freefalling), skydiving while the sun set behind the Rockies on our very last night (including hitchiking back to Calgary from the middle of absolute nowhere), and just generally shredding the deepest freshest powder known to man...
UNI: Graduated with a 2:1 in Classics from Reading University where I not only gained a fascination with the ancients, but also had the greatest time with the Ding kids... snowboarding trips, Cardiff/ Bournemouth/ Southbourne/ Brighton/ MK/ Oxford missions, Wailers (the £100 cab fare home and the projections across SouthBank), Jimmy Cliff (and chilling one down with Nelson at 2am) and the crazy antics of the Leaver's Ball particularly stick to mind...!
UPDATE Feb07: Yeah I decided it was time to add something more interesting on here; just back from an awesome month snowboarding in Morzine (France) ending on the amazing O'Neill Pro Freestyle snowboard competition, freebies central thanks to the tourism boards and O'Neill's media passes, but plenty of snow missions, blazing sun sessions (and blazing in the sun sessions!), parapenting, chorizo pizza munching, and a year's supply of vino drunk by two of us in a month...all worth the huge debts and workload now, but I'm already missing the petite bieres and our pad overlooking the valley...
Update: Dec 06 After a few too many months dossing on the JSA, and bumming around in the Mediterranean summer working as a journalist in Montpellier, the beautiful social hub that is the Whispering Moon has dragged me back to the cold and wetness of England, and I've happily landed the life of a snowboard journalist... getting paid to write, travel and snowboard isn't so bad... now all i need to find is a rich husband and a new house, and my life will be sorted... any offers? :)_______________________________________________
