About Me

Movie nerd meets Edith Head and Keith Richards impossible love-child in a deli... Dork who likes 50's couture, beverage consumption and assorted olive oil soaked garlic goodness. Nutshell.

My Interests

Film. Music. Food glorious food from sashimi to spaghetti there is little I won't consume joyfully. Red wine by the fire, cold beer in any garden, G n T's in the sunshine, sipping lazily with select crew. Reading anything and everything- biographies, novels, the odd sci fi/fantasy, fashion mags, scripts, short stories... Footy ( Carn Saints)Dreaming of going overseas! Ah, the Greek Islands, France, Norway, Prague, Montenegro,Spain, tropical islands of the world...

I'd like to meet:

Chris Lilley, Warren Ellis, Vivienne Westwood, Dave Grohl and Stephen Fry. For differing reasons.

Music:

Like most things, this is mood dependent. The Cure all the time. I love The Mars Volta in my headphones, loud; The Dirty Three alone; AC/DC with a beer before going out; Presets to dance hard to; Jackson Browne with my sister; dancing to Nick Barker at the pub; Grant Lee Buffalo to have a sob to; Kate Bush for girly living room dancing; Crowded House for sing alongs; The Black Eyed Susans on public transport; Don't Change by the inks is our NYE anthem; Mozarts Requiem makes me cry...Too hard to list everything... Dirty Three, The Cure, The Smiths, The Mars Volta, Joni Mitchell, Paul Kelly, Kings of Leon, Gary Numan, The Pixies, Mike Patton, BRMC, RHCP, Thin Lizzy, Bob Dylan, Madonna, The Faint, Nick Cave, INXS (only with Michael), Bloc Party, Major Macfarlane, AC/DC, Van Morrison, Foo Fighters (Dave), Fleetwood Mac, Presets, NIN, Midnight Oil, Siouxsie & The Banshees... too hard, too many....I wish I could sing like Annie Lennox, play the piano and write a song as catchy as 'Boys of Summer' by Don Henley.

Movies:

I can easily watch movies back to back for days on end. Seriously, I do it all the time. I love Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Jim Carey, Cate Blanchet, Johnny Depp, Rita Hayworth, Orson Welles, Christopher Guest, Colleen Atwood, Hitchcock, Ewan McGregor; Steve Coogan, Stephen Fry, Viviene Leigh,Clarke Gable....Wizard of Oz, Jaws, Gone With The Wind, This is Spinal Tap, Sunshine, 28 Days Later, Trainspotting (Danny Boyle= super), Mars Attacks, Ed Wood (Tim Burton, also super), Shaun of the Dead, Kill Bills, Pulp Fiction (Quentin= Mr Cool, how ironic)Bandits, Dig, 300, Gentleman Prefer Blondes, Gilda, Boogie Nights, Alien/s, Twister (I love Bill Paxton, tornadoes and disaster flicks), Pan's Labyrinth, Rear Window, Eternal Sunshine, Adaptation (Charlie Kaufman= excellent), LOTR (nerdy abbreviation noted), Rocky Horror (Tim Curry is amazing), Indiana Jones, 24 Hour Party People, Wilde, Thank You For Smoking, Tristram Shandy- if it is British, dry and pompous I am sure to like it, Velvet Goldmine, St Elmos Fire, Young Guns, Dark Crystal, Princess Bride, The Shining, Blades of Glory, Some Kind Of Monster, Apocolypto, Capote, Transformers, Secretary, Red October (I love submarines too) animated features,... there are sooooo many more. I LOVE movies, I really truly heart them. Except horror. I don't do horror.

Television:

I dig TV, I know that is not cool, but I don't care- I dig TV. Especially watching series' on DVD with no darned ads! The Mighty Boosh, SATC, Buffy, Iron Chef, At Home With Jamie, Nigella Feasts - all cooking shows really, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Twin Peaks, Spaced, Deadwood, Extras, The Amazing Race, The Dog Whisperer, Sopranos, Long Way Round, Love My Way, Miss USA/World/Universe or search for the next blah blah- general beauty mongering misrepresentations of womanhood that I can pick my favourites and shred the rest, wild life and historical docos and bios- it's not all about T & A and ha has.

Books:

Too many to even begin listing, but..... Bukowski; Camus; Fry; Wilde; Shakespeare; Capote; Hesse; Tepper; Dahl; Kundera; Goldman; Barrie; biographies on silver screen icons to inspire and remind that they too are only human. 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' by Lionel Shriver is one of the best novels Ive read in years. Ignore the naff title and read it.

Heroes:

My family and friends who are all stupidly talented and drop dead spectacular.
