About Me

It has been a crazy ride getting to where I am. After high school I left my home and traveled around the country for about 4 years. This, while not being considered a formal education, was possibly the most educational thing I've done. While on my travels... I lived outside mainly. This taught me a lot about appreciation of the simple things that we all have taken for granted at one time or another. I also helped to form a soup kitchen on wheels. This taught me the joy of serving others. There are honestly too many tales to even begin to give this chapter of my life the justice due. Lets just say Dr. Gonzo could not have kept up with me. After traveling I settled in New Mexico where I found another passion, carving and casting. I apprenticed under a well known silversmith and worked with a sculptor that did large scale casting. There is nothing like pouring 30-40Lbs. of molten bronze with your hands. I am truly blessed I found the perfect spot for myself out in NM. I lived in a passive solar adobe/straw-bale home on a 20 acre organic farm off the grid, that means no wires going to it (phones, electricity, sewer, gas,...). This is where Steven's love for gardening began to blossom. I was 24 when I delivered my daughter Maya. She was born in the basement of our house. She was born w/o assistance. This means her mother and I did it together w/o a doctor or a midwife. Very intense! Very beautiful! I'll never top that one. Having a family changed me in many ways. I all of a sudden decided I needed to be more stable. Surviving off the fickle nature of seasonal tourist seemed unstable to me. So we moved back to where I was raised so I could pursue the career I was doing before I decided to go be homeless, a dental technician. I love my job because I'm still carving and designing beautiful smiles for people. I've been very fortunate and I count my blessings everyday. Like I said it's been a very crazy ride getting to where I'm at. I appreciate everything I have and everything I've done. My kids mean the world to me. They are my everything. They give me the inspiration to be more in evey way possible. I feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to do so many incredible things in my life. All of my experiences have sculpted me into who I am today and I can honestly say I wouldn't do anything different if I had the choice. I have a good time with life, I live it .
