About Me

I have 7 dogs of my own. One grandpuppy lives with me too along with a grandchild, a daughter and a never ending panorama of foster critters. I also get one of my grandpuppies every other weekend - works out okay. I lost 4 dogs last year to old age (2), cancer, and a cardio illness and I lost my first sighthound - the Dogfather of it all - just last month. I don't like animal abuse or neglect, child abuse or neglect and I despise people who know it is happening and don't do a darn thing about it. I am a pretty straight forward person and I put my money where my mouth is. I don't like games. I don't pretend I am something I am not just so someone will like me. Deception only leads to hurt feelings and lost friendships. It takes me a while to call someone a friend. But when I call you friend I mean a real friend. You know - friends help you move but real friends help you move bodies. Friends are the family you get to pick. I truly value people who have convictions they stand up for. I think we should all stand up and do the right thing every day. It doesn't matter if it is protecting an abused animal or human or just in daily justice in smaller things. If it is wrong - it is wrong. MAN UP AND SAY SOMETHING - DO SOMETHING - OR AT LEAST CALL SOMEONE ELSE WHO HAS THE BALLS TO DO IT FOR YOU!!!

My Interests

I love animals (cannot say that enough), music, classic cars (1940 - 1973)and I study religions as time allows. I have been involved in animal rescue for about 24 years now, doing greyhound rescue for about 10 years and don't think I could live without at least two in the house. When pushed about "what my religion is" I generally say Wiccan. But I think there are a thousand paths to the same place. You just have to find the one right for you. I am still on the fence about reincarnation. When I die it won't be a surprise either way it goes. LOL But the life I have led has made me think that if there IS reincarnation and that we do have to come back to pay for our past naughtiness, then I had to have been really really baaad in my past lives.

I'd like to meet:

I would like to meet Fermin Perez, President of the Scooby Preserve for Galgos (Spanish Greyhounds) in Spain. Love the man with all my heart. www.scoobymedina.com I would have love to have met Steve Irwin - would still love to meet his wife and kids. People have alot of opinions on what he did and whether some of it was right or wrong - but he brought more wildlife into people's living rooms than anyone else. And he did it with humor and comapssion. I would have liked to have met author James Herriot. I would also love to meet Kinky Friedman. I think he is pretty cool. Not only does he love dogs & other animals - he loves this country and the state of Texas - heck of a guy there. I truly admire the members of ALF. If you don't know who they are - e me and I will tell you. I wish I were 20 years younger and had better connections - I would be there with them. Music:

I like Meyvn (remember the name - they will be HUGE!), By Any Means Necessary, other Texas locals. But I listen to all kinds of music although rock (AC/DC, Pantera, Guns & Roses etc)is my favorite. I think since Zoey's death the song November Rain has become my favorite.

Movies:

My favorite movie is Bram Stoker's Dracula. But I am not big on horror movies. Dracula is really a love story. I like Thunderheart, Knight's Tale, Ace Ventura (what a guy!),almost any sci-fi, martial arts movies, Matrix and for some unknown reason The Wedding Singer.

Television:

I don't watch alot of tv. I like COPS (always wondering if I will see someone I used to know *lol*) but if I stumble onto it it is usually by accident. But the dogs like tv. They prefer comedies and dog food commercials.

Books:

I like to read. I like the study of religions, science fiction, fantasy, gothic, historical - just about everything except romance novels. Oooh Fabio! Take me away! Gag.

Heroes:
