The Blacklight Project is a genre-blending experiment in downtempo concocted by Scott Spivak, Insight (of Blurred Insight) and Arcane (aka Tella Vizion). A mellow, entrancing, and deep-grooved journey that can only be called "blacklight music" (The New York Times)
Arcane and Insight met during and were influenced by the mid 90s New York rave scene. Both musicians and promoters, they began writing music and building songs, many of which would later go on to win contests (JLSC) . While working with members of the Fugees and Wu-Tang in the studio, they linked up with Scott Spivak, a rising name in the NYC jazz community. The three quickly developed a bond and their mind's melded in a way you only hear of in the movies.
Armed with influences as varied as Bjork, Keith Jarrett, Mos Def, and the Doors; a social conscience and a bit of studio wizardry, "The Blacklight Project" was born in 2002.
