Glenn Barnes is a singer/songwriter born and bred in the ‘Medway Delta’, Chatham, Kent. He picked up his first guitar at the age of twelve, and has rarely put it down since! He first performed, busking, at Rochester “Flea†Market; he wasn’t told to ‘can it’ and made a few quid! This encouraged him to play every street corner and subway from north Kent to the south of France.
With this initiation, Glenn toured the West Country, headlined Medway’s Parklife, toured the South of France and played the Dunkirk Festival three times. He received accolades from the NME as unsigned ‘Band of the Week’, was voted ‘Band of the Year’ on Radio Kent which led to being played on prime time Radio 1.
Glenn draws on many sources of inspiration for his songs; from the scorn and rejection of a failed relationship, to the infinite wonders of the universe; from the base desires of a carnal being, to the wide-eyed observations of the human state.
He has worked with Medway’s finest songwriters and musicians and recorded in Billy Childish’s legendary bathroom!
He now performs with Andy White on percussion and Brendan Esmonde on acoustic bass.
