what is the project L
We are a small group of people and we try to sensitize people to the subject of lookism with the “Project Lâ€. Moreover, we want to show the intersections between lookism and other mechanisms of oppression (e.g. sexism/racism). We deal with lookism because most of the other forms of discrimination are already present in public discourse. This does not mean that we regard these mechanisms of oppression as less important and less contestable. Furthermore, we do not want to raise the question which of these forms is the worst. On the contrary we think that an appropriate form of resistance is necessary in every case of discrimination. Moreover, we think that lookism transports sex/gender hierarchies and hierarchizations that are based on assumed “ethnic groupsâ€. We assume a reciprocal interdependence of power relations. the group is not acticve at the moment and the texts an the internet page are not actual at all.
