About Me

HIV is a virus that is transmitted through the bodily fluids blood, semen, vaginal fluids, and breast milk. HIV IS NOT SPREAD THROUGH CASUAL CONTACT like hugging or sharing a glass of water. The most common ways to contract HIV is by having unprotected sex or by sharing needles with an infected person. Mothers can also transmit the virus to their babies. Around 40 million people in the world are living with HIV/AIDS; approximately 1/4 do not know it. Using a latex barrrier (like a condom or a dental dam) during sex (vaginal, anal, or oral) and always using clean needles are the best ways to avoid contracting HIV. There is no cure for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
