We expect all those asking to be added to the my friends list for this site to be responsible, adult members of society. We will not accept members to the my friends list who condone acts which are illegal in this country or the country in which that potential "friend" resides. We do not and will never condone illegal, irresponsible behavior such as using illegal drugs, committing acts of unjustified violence, drinking blood, participating in cannibalism, or anything of that nature. Please note this before asking us to be your "friend." And if you are denied by us, this is likely the reason why we have done so. Thank you.
Alpha Centauri was conceived in Adelaide Australia 1997, by brothers Dimitrius Dorian Kokiousis & Chris Dorian Kokiousis (drums/percussion/vocals and guitar/vocals respectively) originally as a means to experiment with something different to their previous musical pursuits. Both had been playing with bands since around 1989 and with musical maturity came time to change. The concept was founded on a more detailed musical approach to composition and leaning towards Heavy Rock with Progressive experimentation. George Dinedios was invited to join the band on guitar after the trio had successfully collaborated in the past. All three musicians had a deep interest in well-composed music and a love for Classical music; a genre they all showed studying interest upon. Their aim was to create a mixture of Heavy Metal with elements of Progressive Rock, NWOBH and Classical music. The trio begun to rehearse the ideas that were developed during the early days which includes the music for their Return of the Herakleids 7 and 12 singles as well as their debut album: Alpha Centauri. In August 1999, an old friend from Athens, Panos Stathatos moved to Australia and joined them on bass. Alpha Centauri were already working toward their debut studio recording after having circulated a rehearsal room recording to an enthusiastic response. The drum tracks and parts of the guitars for their first single Return of the Herakleids were recorded in December 1999. Due to technical difficulties, the remaining of the recording was not complete until mid 2000.Due to difficulties with finding an appropriate label to support their music and with increasing tension within the band, Alpha Centauri disbanded by late 2000, their recording remaining unreleased.Dimitrius and Chris continued to work together in a variety of musical ensembles and in 2006, on the eve of Dimitrius return back to Europe (where both the brothers came from in 1994), George Dinedios was contacted to add his guitar parts to a demo recording of 3 tracks from the old repertoire. The songs were recorded and mixed without rehearsals (since 2000) in a total of less than 24 hours to be used as a rough demo signalling that Alpha Centauri intended to return.
