About Me

I started a while back with a super cheap 6-string, and proceeded to play House of the Rising Sun until my fingers bled from that awful high action (now I have a Gib and a Taylor)......I already had songs...so I put a few to music...I love writing, but mostly I keep the original stuff to myself...I'll post a few originals every now and then... I almost never use picks and only play acoustic, mostly in the wee hours of the morning. I am self-taught, never taken a lesson and I never want to...I know I'm not very technically proficient, but I like to sing and play for my own pleasure mostly... I write a lot and love playing old folk songs....I have a strong interest in musicology....I travel whenever I can...been lucky enough to backpack all over the world...love experiencing new cultures, domestic or abroad... For me, playing outdoors, preferably on mountaintops, is about the best thing in the world. I have never played live for people, on a stage that is- playing for family, friends, and around campfires out west doesn't count...but it is fun. I love finding different versions of really really old songs...as in Child Ballads old....Mattie Groves, House Carpenter, Barbera Allen, Jack-A-Roe... Some of the first songs I learned were Woody's "Ranger's Command" and "I Ride an Old Paint" which was our anthem on the Quarter Circle V-Bar Ranch in AZ. I am recording onto a crappy little voice recorder in mono, so cut me some slack...I can't afford fancy equipment right now :) All photos posted on this site were taken by me, photography is a hobby of mine. Film is better than digital, always will be, though digi-cams are fun to mess with sometimes... Take a listen, if you have a minute, and perhaps let me know if you like it. Cheers.
I created my own profile using nUCLEArcENTURy.COM and you should too!www.petitiononline.com/tapestry/petition.html
