About Me

Pitlochry and Blair Atholl Pipe Band was formed in November 2004 by a group of local musicians intent on developing the Pipe Band concept to cover all Celtic music. Most of the members have been together for many years and have travelled extensively together. The Band has contacts in Brittany and has forged a strong link with Breton Bagad Sonerien an Oriant. We have been in Brittany with the band, learning Breton music and competed in the Breton Championships in Brest in February this year. We had three of the Breton Band coming to play with us in the World Championships in Glasgow in August where the band came 6th (piping came 1st). Over the years, we would like to expand this programme to include other Celtic Regions. We also have, in the organization, a number of musicians who play instruments other than drums and Highland bagpipes. We encourage the use of these instruments in a concert environment, interacting with pipes and drums. The band are led by local Pipe Majors Sharon & Christy Kelly.
Check out our good pals Bagad Lorient, pretty damn good. This is a few of us from the band playing with Lorient at the bagad championships in Pontivy, we got shafted from the judges as we had a Scottish guys playing, we know, it's shit, but there is a bit of an uproar in Brittany now because of it so we hope to appeal the judges decision.
