Rocha was born in Miami in 1985 and at a very young age moved to Argentina with half of her family. She has always been surrounded by music and had a strong passion for singing. At 16, she moved back to Miami where she finished high school, and only two years later returned to Argentina and begin writing songs and playing her own music. A year later she recorded the music for The Hottest State. Jesse Harris, whom she had met in Buenos Aires while he was on tour there, was looking for someone to sing the parts for the lead actress Catalina Sandina Moreno and asked her to sing the songs for the film into a cassette recorder. He played the tape for Ethan Hawke, who loved the innocence of her singing and immediately made arrangements to have her come to New York for the session. In 2006 Jesse Harris introduced her to French producers Julien Chirol and Pierre-Luc Jamain, formerly of Feist's band, and they began co-writing songs via MP3s sent between Paris and Buenos Aires.
