Laura Conway(18) hails from Sligo in the Northwest of Ireland. She is a singer/songwriter and is also a professional concert pianist, violinist and guitarist. She is also very much involved in musical production and engineering. Her main focus at the moment is to make a career and build profile in the music industry. She says "It's my passion and I might aswel go for it while I am still young. I have dedicated my life to music. I love it and I am so determined to make something happen for myself!" Although the pop industry is her main focus at the moment she also writes musical scores consisting of four full scale operas, symphonies and concertos.Laura had a brief insight to fame when herself and 3 of her sisters (The Conway Sisters) made it to the finals of Simon Cowells hit TV Show The X Factor. The girls had already been on the go for 3 years previous to The X Factor. They wrote and co-produced their debut album with Simon Hill, of which 3 songs reached the top 10 in the Irish charts. The first "What do you do?" was co-written by Laura and Sinead and the third single "Miss You" was fully written by Laura at age 14. It also got picked up and played a few times on BBC Radio 1 after its release which was quite a surprise. One of Lauras first major performances was infront of 20,000 people in Sligo for Westlifes homecoming concert. She then went on to support them on their turnaround tour and sang at Shane Filans wedding. Also she performed at 25 dates of The X Factor tour all across the UK.. Lauras main role within the Conway Sisters was arranging all the harmonies and instrumentation. She was known as the cheeky sister. She made headlines in the Irish press at age 15 when she broke into the Today Fm studios in Dublin and walked right on in to Phil Cawley when he was live on air and said "please play our new song". From then on the girls became friends with Phil (he was their DJ mentor) The Conway Sisters decided to split last month to persue other career paths. Marie is studying law , Sharon is doing a masters in journalism and is looking into getting a publishing deal for her wonderful song-writing talent. Sinead is going into business and is aready working on promising business ventures. They are closer as sisters now more than ever and are the best friends. The Brady Bunch wouldn't have a look in!...Now at age 18 with all this experience behind her and the huge support from her family, Laura is more determined than ever and already has offers from major record labels in Ireland and in the Uk. Shes not going to rush into anything yet. " If I am serious about making a music career, then I need to take my time and groom myself as an artist to perfection. I don't want to attempt anything until I am fully ready. I am going to quietly work away for the next few months at getting the right angle, songs, producers, image etc... Its all part of the game"
