About Me

What, me? Enough about me already, let's talk about you. What do YOU think of me? Oh, that's rich. I have a wide range of interests which usually revolve around the arts and humanities.
They say a man is defined by what he does, and this is what I do:
I currently am or have been, a drummer, DJ, band manager, band leader, bar manager, graphic artist, copywriter, art director, creative director, movie set dresser/art department, ESL English teacher, sound engineer, bouncer, bartender, construction worker, environmental hazmat assessor, industrial hygenist, marine biologist, dishwasher in a Chinese restaurant, and for a brief and shameful period, a car salesman. Just kidding it wasn't that bad! Mostly nowadays I just play drums and work at the world famous Casbah, the finest live music venue in San Diego, quite possibly the finest in America.
In recent news, I'm getting ready to go out on tour playing drums with an awesome band of awesome peeps called Enon, and we're going to do the US and then Europe! Kickass! Check it: http://www.myspace.com/enonmusic
Here's a list of most of the bands I have played in or recorded with, more or less in a chronological order:
N.D.Y. (Not Dead Yet) - Miami, straight ahead punk
Uncle Wiggly - Miami, funk rock a la RHCP
Vehicle - NYC, Indie Rock
Baby Driver - Miami, Indie Rock
Snaggletooth - NYC, pure noise
The Butch Wax Duo - San Diego, Indie rock/blues/noise freakout
aMINIATURE - San Diego, Indie Rock a la Television
fLUF - San Diego, Power pop punk
Snark - San Diego, pop rock
Serahtonic - San Diego, Electronica/Britpop
Gogogo Airheart - San Diego/Los Angeles, the best band of all time
The Album Leaf - San Diego, Electronica
Loopdrop - Tijuana, Electronica
Bartenders Bible - San Diego, Outlaw Country
The And/Ors - Indie Pop
Mr. Tube and the Flying Objects - San Diego, Indie Rock/party music
The Silver Wizzard - San Diego, Electronica/Breakbeat/Gabber
Eugene Mingus (yes, Charles' son) - Tijuana, Jazz
Lady Dottie and the Diamonds - San Diego, Blues/Rock/Party music
The Danny Green Latin Trio - San Diego, Latin Jazz
The Nena Anderson Quartet - San Diego, Jazz/Swing Standards
The Andy Robillard Quartet - San Diego, Jazz/Swing Standards
The Ultra-Violet Tigers - San Diego, Alt Rock
Cash'd Out (Johnny Cash Tribute) - San Diego, Country
Tell Mama - San Diego, Motown Rock
The Tighten Ups - San Diego, Motown Rock
Sku*Modal - San Diego, Free Jazz Psyche
Enon - Philadelphia, Rock Rock Rock!
Of course, i'd rather just be playing music all day...
You got a band and you need a drummer? Drop me a line! Entice me with a clever hook or inspiration! Or buckets of money, either way is good.
I currently DJ regularly at the Wits End beer bar in Hillcrest, 420 Robinson, every Monday night from 8-12, spinning classic rock and anything else I feel like playing at the time... Allright Allright Allright!

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

people who think the show "Friends" is whack.
because it is.
Also, sorry bands and individuals, I don't add random people (or bands) who I don't already know without a letter of introduction or something. I'm sure you're great but prove it.

Music:

Mostly older stuff but there is hope for the future.

Movies:

The ever growing list of all time favorites include; Blade Runner, Roman Holiday (better than Breakfast at Tiffany's), Before the Rain (the European one I can't find anywhere, if you find it tell me!), Super Troopers, Snatch, All the Trey Stone/Matt Parker flicks even though Team America kinda sucked, All the Cohen Bros films especially The Big Lebowski, Office Space, The Edge (the one with Anthony Hopkins and the big ass bear), Spirited Away, all the Godfathers even though the last one sucked, All the Quentin Tarentino flicks, even the vampire one was pretty good, All the Hitchcock stuff is still good even now, All the Wes Anderson films especially The Life Aquatic, more to come...

Television:

Yeah, i like it, it's a guilty pleasure.

Books:

stranger in a strange land, any Nabokov, hitchiker's guide to the galaxy, dune, the story of the eye, nine short stories, the world according to garp, everybody poops, y'know, the classics.

Heroes:

my dog Blue. YER MY BOY, BLUE!

First notes from tour... LA thru Tucson

OK, so LA is fucking hilarious, we all know that, but it's still pretty funny when you are in it, even surreal sometimes. Especially when everywhere you look you recognize a movie or a sitcom or actor...
