"WE ARE A TROUPE OF INDIVIDUALS, WHO THROUGH THE POWER OF MUSIC AND DANCE CULTIVATE SELF-WORTH, DIGINITY AND RESPECT FOR ALL PEOPLE"* ..................................Culture Shock DC was originated in August 2002 and is still going on strong! Culture Shock is a non-profit youth outreach organization, and professional hip-hop dance troupe. We are dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles, non- violence, physical fitness, and community involvement throughout the powerful and popular medium of Hip Hop music and dance. Currently, there are teams located in 8 major metropolitan areas through out the United States as well as in several cities abroad. Members of CULTURE SHOCK are of all ages and come from very diverse backgrounds. The dedicate their time to participate in performances locally and nationally and teach a fresh style of dance that includes Hip Hop Choregraphy, Break Dance, House, Popping and Locking. The classes are for those that want to learn for recreation, as well as those who dance and perform professionally. CULTURE SHOCK currently has locations in San Diego, Oakland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, Atlanta, New York, and Washington DC. We are also international and have outreach programs in Canada, Switzerland, London,and United KingdomWe have recently formed FUTURE SHOCK in the DC/Virginia areas. Future Shock is an addition to Culture Shock and is for kids under the age of 18. We also have Future Shocks in several other locations, including San Diego.
