About Me

CrowfeatheR is not one of those artists who you see live or hear on the radio and do not remember thier songs. CrowfeatheR will touch you heavily on an emotional level. CrowfeatheR is not music you hear, it is music you feel. CrowfeatheR is not a formula created band, the emotion is genuine.

"I find melody in the chords I use. From there a vocal melody; be it the same or a counter melody appears to me. The melody speaks to me, the words become obvious."
CrowfeatheR

CrowfeatheR began his musical journey to become one of the fastest electric bass players in the world at age 16. Addicted to the rush of technical profundity, songs were written in 19/16 and 5/8 time signatures, songs that lasted for 10 minutes of polyrythmic impossiblity and songs that simply had "too many notes" for most musicians to handle. Discouraged by the lack of passion and dedication of his fellow musicians CrowfeatheR moved on alone to exile. CrowfeatheR's triumphant return from exile comes in the form of a new sound fortified with mass appeal, combined with technical crediblilty and an endless amount of street cred. CrowfeatheR posseses a true 5 octave voice and is regarded as one of the world's most devastating guitar players and techically proficient bass players. --

May 9th, Bikers For the Cure, a cancer cure benefit by Mothers for Daughters.

Influences: CrowfeatheR's influences are; Guitar: Juliana Hatfield, Jeff Martin (Tea Party), Dave Navarro (Panic Channell, Janes Adiction), Zakk Wylde (Ozzy), Sony Mayo (Seven Dust), Les Paul, Alan Holdsworth, Steve Howe (Yes)
Bass: John Taylor (Duran Duran), Dug Pinnick (King's-X), Chris Squire (Yes), Bootsy Collins, James Jamerson.
Vocal: Jeff Buckley, Billy Idol, Chris Cornell (Audioslave, Sound Garden), Jim Morrison (The Doors), Jeff Martin (Tea Party), Scooter Ward (November Falls, Cold), Ian Astbury (The Cult), Scott Stapp (Creed) Keyboards: Rick Wakeman (Yes), Laurence Tolhurst (The Cure)
Drums/ percussion: Lars Ulrich (Metalica), Sam McCandless (Cold)
Programming: Trent Reznor (NIN)
I cut my musical teeth in my early years being influenced by the great progressive bands of he 1970's and 1980's like Yes and Rush. Lately my musical tatses have been heavier and I think for my taste TOOL is the best band actively together.
Sounds Like: Vocally sometimes Peter Murphy (bauhaus) or Jeff Martin (tea party) , Sometimes Jeff Buckley (R.I.P) or Chris Cornell (Audio Slave, Sound Garden) and Hopefully sometimes Chris Daughtry, but the other day someone said I sing like Lajon Witherspoon (7dust). Imagine smooth, subtle, seamless transitions from jazz influenced chord structures to riff rock set to a familiar contemporary rock feel with catchy sing song, powerpop, vocal hooks and melodies. Guitar: this is heavily Jazz influenced, with melodic and shred metal tidbits here and there when called for. To get me out of Jazz mode I have to use alternate tunings. My influences on the guitar are mostly Juliana Hatfield, Dave Navaro (The Panic Channell, Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Steve Howe (YES), Alan Holdsworth and Les Paul. "CrowfeatheR" on the guitar is a nuclear-jazz guitarist with a sonic chamaeleon and multiple personality dissorder complex. Every section of every song must have its own sonic principal and style that suits the feel of the music. I do not consider my self a "guitarist" so I am not interested in having a patented "sound" that people will recognize as mine or pigeon holing my playing style to be catagorized as an X-style guitarist. My favorite guitar sound is a Gibson Firebird or Washburn Idol on the neck pickup through a hot, driven, class A tube amp, with bright heavy strings, much like you hear on "Lone Rider". My primary instrument has been the electric Bass. My greatest influences growing up were John Taylor (Duran Duran), James Jamerson, Bootzilla (that's Bootsy Collins to you), Muzz Skillins (living Color), Doug Pinnick (Kings-X, Pound hound), Chris Squire (YES) and of course Geddy Lee (Rush). Although I have the technical ability for endless mastabatory riffing and blazing runs faster than any guitar player could ever do using a pick, using my "cross finger picking" technique, I chose not to include too much of that in my popular music. I have put most of that behind me and I am trying to loose my musical ego. I am more worried about how things sound other than playing stuff no one else can. My favortie Bass tone is my custom made Bass through a bright, tube preamp with new sparkling light strings, mmmm, warm and crunchy. My percussion tracks are a Combination of live drums and percussion and digitally sampled or electronic, drum programming. My favorite drummers are too many to list , but include Morgan Rose (Seven Dust), Danny Carey (TOOL), Sam Mcandless (COLD), Jerry Gaskill (Kings-X) and the creator of the modern drumming style, Neil Peart (Rush). I prefer the sound of Mahogany drum shells, ported bass drum heads, a hard beater and a beater patch. Bands of some sonic comparison, or some sections of my songs may sound like; Audio Slave, Incubus, TOOL and Disturbed with hints of my own Nuclear Jazz style. I do not sound like My Chemical Romance or 30 seconds to Mars.
