..Makoto Deguchi is a Japanese jazz pianist. I was born January 13, 1969 in Wakayama and started on piano and electronic organ at the age of five. While in composition department of Osaka College of Music, I encountered Jazz and was influenced by records of Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson and Herbie Hancock and I made a debut as a jazz pianist at a jazz club in Kansai. After graduating from the college, I have been playing the piano with many famous jazz players including Keiko Nakajima, opera singer, in jazz club all over Japan. I released first Makoto Deguchi trio album in August 2005 and received considerable attention. Today, in addition to a jazz pianist, a composer, arranger and bandleader, I play an active part as a jazz piano educator at Mikiko Deguchi music school.
