Can I have four beers?

About Me

"The Craftsman" by Narse is now available for sale!
Buy brand new Narse shirts!
Music obsessive. Experimental ambient artist. Very very silly. Current musical projects:
Pancreatic Aardvarks: drone synths/guitars/electronics/whatever I get my hands on. I once did a creepy ambient song entirely with kazoos. Released 9 albums, working on a couple more right now. www.gnarphlager.com is the main page, but there's a myspace page too here .
The Good Neighbors: Celtic trance. My latest project, fusing traditional Celtic dance melodies with modern electronic dance music. There is, of course, a myspace page here where you can hear a few sketches (live-at-home recordings on one synth...just got some more equipment to expand the sound for the final recordings, which hopefully will be done by the end of January).
Narse: synthpop, late 70's/early 80's style. On myspace here with some songs you can listen to, and tell me what you think! I've been doing a bunch of shows with that lately, and that seems to be going over fairly well. So definitely check that out. of course, information will also be at www.gnarphlager.com , and that site will be useful once again really soon, i promise.
Gallows Tree: Traditional and original Celtic folk music (thought these days more Americana). Mostly acoustic. I sing and play guitar (usually 12 string). Information also at www.gnarphlager.com , and here on myspace.
Other than that, well, I don't know what to say about me. I busk on the streets of Oakland, usually around noon on fifth between bouquet and oakland ave, for about a half hour. say hello! i like cartoons!

My Interests

Music, music, music, movies, more music, single malt scotch, books, music. oh yeah, i kinda like music too. Digging absinthe these days. Yum!

I'd like to meet:

People who, you know, do stuff. Creative people of all sorts, musicians, in particular, and intelligent people who like to offer constructive criticism and feedback on music! But pretty much anyone who thinks and can carry on a conversation. A word about random friend requests: I'm prolly not going to add you. Send me an e-mail, it might be a different story. If you are a band, I will listen to your stuff, but odds are, in any case, I'm just going to send a friend request from Narse instead. So if you want to be friends, send me a message. If you're just looking for people on your friends list, save time and add Narse instead !

Music:

Mostly classical, noise, ambient, experiemental, lounge, scottish folk, new wave. like Ligetti, Nurse With Wound, My Boyfriend The Pilot, Aube, Ultra Milkmaids, Swans, Legendary Pink Dots, Current 93, Oingo Boingo, Tindersticks, Les Baxter, Belly, the Church, Tear Garden, Foetus, the Incredible String Band, Tom Waits, Old Blind Dogs, Silly Wizard, Necrophorus, Namanax, Petit Mal, Turk Knifes Pope, and of course my own bands, Pancreatic Aardvarks, Narse, and Gallows Tree

annoyances

well, my first ever use of the "block user" feature on myspace.  I knew my relatives were on myspace, as that I have received a bunch of e-mails that I quite definitely did not respond to.  ...

Ah, the rex.....

Yet another eventful monday, but strangely enough, I don't think I had a drink.  Odd that.  After Chuck and I played, we didn't really stick around.  Chuck played his new "Dead of Octob...

the sleep of reason produces monsters

Appologies to Chad and Lisa for not coming over last night; it had been a very very long day.  The lesson I learned: if I'm going to jog the same day I go out to the rex, I should make sure that ...

magician among the spirits

Sarah posted this and I've been depressed and maudlin enough lately to enjoy filling it out.  But not so much that I'd want to post it as a bulletin myself.  I do have a bunch of things that...
