HIGH is what we aim for!

About Me

Formed in high school by two best friends, Socratic started out
on the scene as a mediocre punk rock outfit that was limited to
power chord rock and cover songs. Not any longer.
In 2006, Socratic self-produced the 5 song EP, Just Turn, which was
offered as a free online download and has received over 50k downloads
to date. The band's full-length debut, Lunch For The Sky, was
released in 2005. Not only did it sell more than 15K units, Lunch
For The Sky garnered excellent press response including accolades
from Alternative Press Magazine who stated,
"For those eyeing a pop-rock getaway that's a bit more daring and
exotic, Socratic just might be the golden ticket."

-Alternative Press Magazine
Lunch for the Sky provided listeners with enough colorful, smile
enducing piano driven rock songs to fuel the rest of summer's memories
as they faded in the rearview mirror.
"Spread The Rumors" was recorded in LA, a continent away from
Socratic's New Jersey home base. "The whole time we were
planning this record," recalls lead singer/songwriter Duane Okun,
"we would say we wanted to write a record like [blink-182's] ‘Enema
of the State,' where every song is a single." So when the band got word
that blink's Mark Hoppus himself loved the demos and wanted to produce
them, it was a no-brainer. "Although we're kind of at opposite ends
of the musical spectrum from Blink 182," adds Okun, "we have the
same pop sensibilities, and Mark is amazing at bringing those out."
Most of the 12 songs were written over a short time, which lends
a measure of musical consistency to the album. The album was
tracked in a record time of 20 days! There's no single overarching
theme, but the songs hammer home images of unfulfilled agendas
and open wounds, faithless love and fated destinies. Basically,
maturity sucks, but it's the only open road. Says Duane,
"Maybe what I’m saying is: I'm young, but no one ever grows up."
..
"Everything is so sweet and melodic, listening to Socratic is like forgetting
about your life and your problems for twelve blissful songs."

"Who would have thought that an album with a cover so terrible could be
so good?"
decoymusic.com
"As the ancient Greek philosopher Socrates once wrote, "When you were
pissed and on the rag, I waited around, but now I'm packing my bags."
buzzworthy.mtv.com
"It's hard to get sick of an album that puts me in such a good mood."
