DJ MIEKO

I am a Japanese DJ specialising in the techno/click house genre. My music employs a colour-based theory of my own devising which is used to create specific soundscapes.
Since 1998 to the present, I have been actively involved in the Japanese and International DJ scene, as a DJ, event organiser and music writer. Within that time, I have had the opportunity to perform in many clubs and event spaces alongside many International names.
In 2003, I was the winner of the Heineken Music DJ competition in Japan, and this transpired to working with Paul Oakenfold at ageHa, the biggest club in Asia. Subsequently, I was also invited to collaborate with Layo&Bushwaka in Amsterdam. Since this point, I have continued to play at various events internationally: in Austria, France, Germany, Holland, Hong Kong, China, South Korea, Vietnam, Australia.
In March 2006, I started organising the “Garden” party at Colors Studio, Tokyo, which focuses on inviting international as well as Japanese artists. The focus of “Garden,” which is still ongoing, is on techno/house DJ mixes and live acts with specific emphasis on deep, underground sounds.
In August 2006, I visited Vienna for the first time and played with Electric Indigo at "Crazy", Flex. Then, in September 2006, I invited Electric Indigo and Tina 303 to play at my party "Garden" in Tokyo. Through meeting Electric Indigo, I had the opportunity to be involved in a panel discussion on “The development of women in the music scene” with Electric Indigo, Tina303 and DJ Mayuri at the Austrian embassy, Tokyo.

自分がデザインした服でショーをやるなら音 楽も自分のタイミングで流したい。

音へのこだわりもはんぱじゃない。 自らのパーティー『Garden』ではたった一夜の ためにスピーカー を移動し、吸音布をはり、モニターを持ち込 む。 もちろん針はどこで回す場合も自分のものを 持っていく。 自分のレコードは自分の針のクセで溝が掘ら れていく。だから自分の針だと針飛びしにく い、という理由で。
