Although on the outside is a very cheerful and energetic girl, is actually very reserved. Even when is fully aware of those around me, still keeps my troubles to myself and doesn't express them. is very timid and prudent when it comes to love. cares very much about family and her cooking is good, popular with many of my customers.
To me, Cloud is the only one through which I can get in touch with my past. He is my ideal love and his existence is also like a prince who promised to come to my rescue when I am is in trouble.
Biography
When I was in Nibelheim, a few years after my mother died, I became the student of a travelling fighter named Zangan at the age of thirteen. It was he who taught me the close combat skills I knew today. Not long afterwards, Sephiroth from Shinra arrived at Nibelheim and tragedy struck. Sephiroth burned down my hometown and killed everyone he saw, including my only parent, mu father. Burning with hatred and anger, I went after Sephiroth but in the end, was heavily wounded. Ever since then, I held a grudge for Shinra.
With my hometown in ruins, Zangan took the heavily wounded me to Midgar and left me with the doctors without waiting for her full recovery. Even though the time I had spent training with Zangan had been short, I had mastered the basics and continued to hone her combat skills alone.
Before long, I found out about the anti-Shinra group Avalanche and with mu grudge against Shinra, decided to meet with the leader Barret to join them. While posing as the attractive hostess of her bar Seventh Heaven, also took part in Avalanche's activities.
After the Meteor incident, Midgar was left in ruins and so was my bar. But with a little struggle, a new Seventh Heaven was opened in the new city of Edge. I now looks after Marlene as well as many orphaned children.

Story of the Planet
The Way of the World In a never-ending cycle, people are born and people die. When a human dies, his physical body decomposes and becomes a part of the Planet. His soul also returns to the Planet in the form of Spirit Energy where it joins the souls of other people in death. All together the souls form the Lifestream, a path of energy that roams the Planet directly beneath the crust. When a human is born, he is blessed with a fraction of the Spirit Energy contained within the Lifestream and is given life. The cycle continues. The human will eventually die, either from old age or other respective reasons, and will return to the Planet.
All living things follow the same cycle. Animals and plants die and decay, their souls returning to the Lifestream. On a much larger scale, planets die, their Spirit Energy returning to the universe and donating to the birth of new planets. Although some planets may live for longer than others, none are eternal and, in the end, all will eventually die to make way for new planets. It's the way of the world and must be kept with to ensure there is balance and harmony within the universe.
Having said that, there are exceptions to the rule. No more than fifty years ago the Gi, a tribe of warriors bent on the destruction of the people and guardians of Cosmo Canyon, found a means of entrance into the canyon through a series of underground caves. A long and grueling battle took place in those caves and the Gi were eventually defeated. However, so furious were they at their loss that their souls didn't return to the Planet, as they should have done. They instead remained in the Cave of Gi as vengeful spirits, attacking anybody who should dare to enter. Thus, the Spirit Energy used to give them life was never returned to the Lifestream.
It's only because Spirit Energy is one hundred percent natural that it works so efficiently. Add human interference into the equation and everything quickly falls to pieces. Mako reactors were invented by Shinra, Inc. to take up Spirit Energy from the Planet and condense it to form Mako energy and Materia. With the technological advantages that this invention brought around came a much greater disadvantage. The Mako reactors took enormous amounts of Spirit Energy from the Planet without giving anything in return. Unless stopped, this would eventually result in the unnatural destruction of the entire Planet.
Crisis from the Skies The Cetra were a race of itinerant beings that traveled from place to place, settling each before moving on. They had certain powers that allowed them to communicate with the Planet, thus aiding them in nurturing it. This migration and cultivation was part of the Cetra's journey to find the Promised Land, a place that, for them, promised boundless happiness.
Several thousand years ago, the Cetra set about cultivating the Planet. During this cultivation, some of the Cetra, exhausted by the journey and no longer motivated by the prospect of the Promised Land, gave up their quest and made permanent settlements. They became the ancestors of the present-day human race. Those that didn't give up continued to settle the land, having to work much longer and harder due to the loss of numbers.
Then, two thousand years ago, disaster struck. The Cetra heard the cries of the Planet and organized a Planet Reading. A Planet Reading entails the Cetra conversing with the Planet, although even they find it difficult to explain exactly what occurs. The Planet communicated that something had fallen from the sky and crashed into the land at the far north of the world, creating a great injury.
The Cetra residing at Knowlespole (which was located in the present-day Forgotten City) were the first to discover this wound. Thousands of Cetra then flocked together in an attempt to heal the Planet, but to no avail. The wound was so severe that only the Planet could cure itself over time. All of the energy close to the injury was spent trying to heal it and as a result the land died. The Planet persuaded the Cetra at Knowlespole to leave.
When the Cetra prepared to leave their beloved land, the alien being that had collided with the Planet, causing the wound came to them. It befriended them and earned their trust and then betrayed them. Jenova, as it later came to be called, gave the Cetra a virus, causing them to lose their minds and transform into monsters. The virus spread quickly and soon everyone at Knowlespole was infected. Then Jenova made its way further south, finding other Cetra and infecting them too.
With this being present, the Planet would never be able to fully heal. As a means of protecting itself, it created the five destructive WEAPONs (Ultimate, Diamond, Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire). However, the WEAPONs were never actually used. The Cetra that survived overpowered Jenova and sealed it beneath the earth. The Planet gave birth to the WEAPONs, but there was no longer a need for them. They remained sleeping across the globe. Since Jenova was only trapped, not destroyed, there was always a possibility that it would return and the Planet remained alert.
The humans, who had hidden whilst Jenova killed the Cetra, began to thrive and quickly became more sophisticated whilst the Cetra started to die out. Two thousand years later the race would become entirely extinct.
The Jenova Project Thirty years ago, Professor Gast, an employee of ShinRa, discovered Jenova in a two thousand year-old geological stratum whilst on an excavational dig at Mt. Nibel. He gave Jenova her name and wrongly identified her as an Ancient (the modern, more popular name for Cetra). This was one of the greatest scientific discoveries in history and ShinRa quickly took advantage of it. Professor Gast, along with Professor Hojo, was assigned to lead a series of experiments on Jenova. The aim of these experiments, collectively called the Jenova Project, was to produce an army of super-humans with the powers of the Ancients.
The initial concept was to inject living beings with cells from Jenova whilst exposing them to high levels of Mako energy. However, none of Professor Gast and Hojo's test subjects were able to survive the experiments. As a last resort, Professor Hojo impregnated one of his colleagues, a young, intelligent woman named Lucrecia, and injected the unborn fetus with Jenova cells. Lucrecia became extremely ill as a result. Even so, the experiment was a success and the first living human injected with Jenova cells was born: a boy, Sephiroth.
At some point during the early stages of the Jenova Project, Professor Gast decided to leave, sickened by the inhumane experiments his colleagues were performing, and went to travel the world. On his travels he met Ifalna, the sole survivor of the Cetra. The pair fell in love and moved to Icicle Inn on the Northern Continent, where, two years later, Ifalna gave birth to a baby girl, Aerith.
Hojo, who had been searching for Gast ever since he abandoned the Jenova Project, had known of his old partner's whereabouts all along but had never acted upon it, hoping that he and Ifalna would produce a child, solely so he would have a new test subject for his experiments at ShinRa. Upon hearing that a child had finally been born, he barged into their home at Icicle Inn when Aerith was just twenty days old and tried to take her. After urging his wife to take Aerith and run, Professor Gast was killed on the spot. Ifalna and Aerith were then quickly apprehended and taken to ShinRa HQ, although they later escaped.
The War Wutai is a town on a thin strip of mountainous land to the west of the western continent. It's located at the foot of a long mountain range, and carved into the rocks are statues of Wutai's various gods, the most important and prominent being the Water God, Da-chao.
The residents of Wutai were proud and independent people, and were heavily against any interference from the rest of the world. However, a weapons manufacturing company called ShinRa was becoming the major power in places across the globe, and soon they were demanding Wutai's allegiance. The leader, Godo, was determined to preserve Wutai's way of life and refused all such demands, leaving ShinRa with only one choice. No more than sixteen years ago, ShinRa declared war on Wutai.
It was a long and gruesome war and affected the majority of the Planet. ShinRa's main weapon in the war was the elite army, SOLDIER, of which Sephiroth was made general. Sephiroth rose to fame and became legendary, an idol for many young boys who wanted to be heroes. Although SOLDIER were immensely powerful, Wutai fought fiercely, and even normal men were forced to leave their homes and family to partake in the slaughter. With such numbers against them Wutai had no chance of victory and fell under ShinRa's power, becoming a tourist town, and a shell of its former self.
It was at this time that ShinRa realized exactly how profitable Mako reactors were and built more across the world, and abandoned its other ventures such as space exploration and weapons manufacturing.
Nibelheim
The Town Nibelheim is a small and peaceful village located at the foot of the Nibel Mountains on the Western Continent. Because there were so few residents and people rarely left the settlement, it was a very tight-knit community, everybody knew everybody else. Nibelheim is where me and Cloud spent their childhood, but they didn't know each other very well.
The town proper appears to have only six buildings, three of which are houses, and the other three an inn, a general store, and the Shinra mansion respectively. Although Nibelheim was the first place to have a Mako reactor built close by, it doesn't take advantage of it and is very undeveloped compared to the rest of the world. There is an old-fashioned water tower in the center of the village and there is only one old and rusty truck which is more than fifteen years old. All of the appliances in the houses are aged and fire-powered, the lack of technology is especially hard-hitting to the residents as Nibelheim is very cold!
The inn was run by one elderly man and the general store was owned by a married couple whose son, Johnny, was one of my closest friends from childhood. Among the rest of the village's residents were my two other best friends, Cloud and his mother, me and my father and a friend of my father (who took the infamous photograph of Sephiroth, me and Zacks).
My House My old house is the biggest of the residential buildings in Nibelheim and is right nextdoor to Cloud's old house. Despite its relative enormity, the interior is quite small and cozy and is reminiscent of a Tudor farmhouse with some obvious twists.
my bedroom seems to be that of a typical teenage girl's. A wardrobe, vanity table and desk line one wall, and opposite are situated my bed and piano. In her childhood, my bedroom was where she and her trio of friends would hang out a lot of the time, and also where Cloud wished he would be invited, just once.
Shinra Mansion The biggest house in Nibelheim, situated on the outskirts of the town closest to the Nibel Mountains, was called the Shinra Mansion by the villagers - people from Shinra used to live there a long time ago.
The villagers had always been wary of the mansion, although they'd never had any idea of the secrets it harbored. It was first inhabited by Shinra no less than thirty years ago, and the basement was used to house books and conduct experiments related to the Jenova Project.
Even though Jenova was moved to Shinra HQ after the incident five years ago, Hojo still used the basement to carry out his cloning experiments on Zacks and Cloud. That was until their escape one year ago, information regarding this can be read in the basement. (A refers to Zacks and B refers to Cloud.)
Escapee Report no.1 X Month X Day The two escapees were located near Midgar.
Escapee Report no.2 A. Former member of SOLDIER/Number ( ) No reaction could be detected from either Mako Radiation Therapy or Jenova. B. Regular/Number ( ) Reaction to Jenova detected.
Escapee Report no.3 Concerning their disposal. A. Shot for resisting. B. Escaped during A's resistance.
Escapee Report no.4 B's whereabouts are currently unknown. We submit there is no need to pursue him due to his diminishing consciousness.
With Zacks and Cloud unavailabe for further experiments, the Shinra Mansion fell into disuse. However, the basement also held another secret: Vincent Valentine, a former member of the Turks, who had been experimented on by Hojo twenty-eight years prior and put to cold sleep.
Mt. Nibel The Nibel Mountains are located to the north of Nibelheim, and form a slightly distended 'M' shape. The most prominent mountain in the range is Mt. Nibel, which is abundant in Mako energy and harbors the world's first Mako reactor.
Mt. Nibel is the distance that Jenova was able to progress southwards before the surviving Cetra stopped her rampage by sealing her in a geological stratum. As Jenova lay dormant there for two thousand years, the mountain became a focal point of the Planet's Spirit Energy, and for this reason Shinra built their first Mako reactor on its precipice thirty-nine years ago. Nine years later, a Shinra scientist, Professor Gast, discovered Jenova whilst on an excavational dig, and she was broken from her seal and taken to Shinra HQ in Midgar.
When I was growing up, there was a legend among the villagers that the spirits of those who died passed through the mountains. Until five years ago, Mt. Nibel was something of a small tourist attraction, and guides were trained to navigate the mountain paths, I being one of them. However, after the incident, the mountain became inaccessible by the public, and the Mako reactor fell to ruins.
After the Fire In the incident, Nibelheim was burned to the ground. All of its residents died or were taken captive and used as test subjects for experiments concerning the Jenova Project. However, when Cloud and me return to Nibelheim five years later, the town is exactly as it was before - except the residents are different, and there are cloaked people with tattoos wandering about.
This mystery can be solved by examining the desk in what used to be my bedroom. On it is a 'Periodic Report to Professor Hojo' that explains all that's occurred at Nibelheim in the past five years.
1 Clone Activity Report Unfortunately, no 'CLONES' have left this town this quarter. As previously reported, the 'CLONES' seem to be sensing something. But all they say is, 'Reunion' or 'Sephiroth' and show no other signs of activity.
2 Confidentiality Report A total of eight people have visited town this quarter. Fortunately, none knew about the incident five years ago. Therefore, no one knows the town was restored exactly as it was five years ago. Our staff, disguised as townspeople, have improved their acting skills, and we do not report any problems at this time. That is all.
To summarize, Shinra rebuilt Nibelheim exactly as it had been before, and hired people to act as lifelong residents. The people in black cloaks are 'CLONES' (a word not to be taken literally, as it in this context it refers to test subjects of the Jenova Project) and are in Nibelheim because Sephiroth, or possibly Jenova, is drawing them there.
the letter
"Tifa, what's happened to our town? Was it all an illusion, or just a dream? No, it was neither. I remember trying to get people out of the flames, but not having the strength... Burning with anger, I went to the reactor to kill Sephiroth.
But he was nowhere to be found. Instead, I found you, collapsed inside. I felt saving you was far more important than going after Sephiroth. There were several others that were still alive inside, but I was only able to save you.
As I was coming out of the reactor, Shinra troops were just arriving. I recall a scientist named Hojo was in charge. He ordered the troops to gather up everyone still alive for the experiment. I didn't know what type of experiment he was talking about, but I wasn't about to let them have my dearest student.
Putting you on my back, I headed down the mountain to the village. I used the Cure spell on you many times and started to head for Midgar to look for a doctor for you. I don't like that city, but my Cure spells weren't helping.
I decided to go to Midgar to find a doctor I could trust. I'm worried about you, but I can't settle down in one place for very long. Have you recovered fully? Are you well?
I wonder how many years have passed since then? I just got into town again, but I can't believe it... The whole town is back to normal, except for the strange beings with black clothes all around...
The town reeks of Shinra, but I won't go after them. You may think I'm running from them, but it's just that I don't want anything to do with Shinra anymore. Feels like time is running out.
I'm sure you'll find this letter. And this gift for you. It should come in handy. I can't even jump anymore. But I hope you continue to sharpen your skills and remember what I taught you.
To my most precious student, From Zangan."

"Stop running! I know. Even if you find the kids you might not be able to help them. Maybe something will happen that can never unhappen, that scares you, doesn't it? But you need to think about it now, really take it in. Look at you, you think you've got it so damn hard. Well you hate being alone so let people in. Sure you might not answer the phone, but I don't see you throw it away either!"
"Two years ago, think of the strength we all had when we fought that last battle. It's only been a couple of years, but already the thrill is gone. But Cloud, I think he's found it again."
"The bad guys, naturally."
