-- What got you into sculpting vinyl figures?
1. All starts from 1 lousy "mad ball" digital watch I got when I was about 10 years old in JAPAN.
I was shocked, it's totally different than Japanese type scary monsters. The colors and design.
So, since then I want to make monsters like that.
I draw or sculpt monster's, period. Call me MONSTER5 and call my shop in Mitaka Japan MONSTER5 too.
-- How do Japanese toy collectors differ from American toy collectors?
2. I don't know about U.S. but in JAPAN toy was always more for all citizens including many for grown up's that like Japanese type comics.
So we don't have idea TOY=KID'S so we have more variety.
-- How do you feel about Communist "El Panda", Kozik "Tequila", RED DEMON and the rest of the characters for muttpop.com and/or Mexican wrestlers?
3. Not so many people know but in 80's "ミル・マスカラス†( Mill Mascaras.) and "ドス・カラス†( Dos Caras.) where Super Stars in JAPAN.
I was watching wrestling every week when I was a kid and always kept trying to get their over face mask they would throw before fighting but I never got it.
-- Do you have a favorite sculpt of yours ?
4. I will not say but I have a favorite sculptor.
"TAKAYUKI TAKEYA" I think he is best sculptor in JAPAN.
All fine detail Japanese small figures are done by him.
-- Is there competition between sculptors?
5. I used to work in toy manufacturing in JAPAN long ago.
So at that time I had met a lot of Japanese sculptors but every sculptor I met was nice person, we get a long easy and always has tons of works in our hands.
So, not so care about other sculptor doing what.
-- What's next for Monster 5...that you can talk about?
6. I don't think I can talk about what I'm sculpting right now or next and next next and so on after that!
I can say though very busy! but for my personal project I'm thinking construction mix toy like LOGOS STYLES COME ALIVE, but 3D.
