I demolish my bridges behind me...then there is no choice but to move forward.

About Me

Homo sapiens - the only surviving hominid; species to which modern man belongs; bipedal primate having language and ability to make and use complex tools; brain 1400 cc.....I was raised in Alaska, having traveled up the Alcan highway in 1950 with my then very young parents ( age 24) and twin sister . We started life in Alaska living in a tent and traveling in an old army jeep named "myrt" I spent my childhood following my father's work from Ketchikan to Barrow...living in tents, log cabins, float houses, boats, learning to hunt, fish, trap and explore. I have lived among native Alaskan Indians, Aleuts, and Yupiks learning many of thier customs, stories and culture. I considermyself a fortunate person to have experienced a childhood unlike most. I spent most of my adult summers commercial fishing from SE Alaska to Bristol Bay on hand cranking trollers, hydraulic bow pickers and beach set net rigs. During my teen years I worked in cannerys earning money for school. One of my favorite memories from childhood is of our single engine Piper Cub airplane that my father bought and landed on the road, removed the wings, towed it to a net loft, where he and my mother took it down to the skeleton and re-fabriced and doped it, re-built the engine, put a new wooden prop on and converted it from wheels to floats, we flew it to bays and lakes using it to hunt and fish from until my siblings and I found doing things with your parents was a real drag and it was more fun to hang out at the local marina catching wolf eels and running around the bay in a tiny skiff.I continue to be adventurous and never tire of seeing new places and learning new things. I recently spent several months living in Scotland, a beautiful and mystical place.

My Interests

My interests include art, music, literature, poetry native american art, eskimo art, outdoor sports, ( hiking, boating, rafting, kyaking) I am not an avid camper anymore preferring to sleep in a bed rather than on the ground these days although I can if the situation requires it.

I'd like to meet:

I am in search of kindred spirits in whatever guise they reside..

Music:

I am a fan of all sorts of music..my preference is blues and I have a large collection of blues that is currently still in Scotland because it is prohibitivly expensive to ship it home....

Movies:

My favorite film is " Harold and Maude" next, Monty Python's "Meaning of Life"

Television:

I think some anthropologist will come across the remains of a TV sometime with a few skeletons around it and think perhaps it was some kind of altar......

Books:

Not being a fan of fiction I prefer biographies, auto biographies and real life adventures, as well as historical data and geography.

Heroes:

Is there such a thing as a hero anymore? Media has destroyed the absolute privacy of any individual to appear to us as a hero. Nothing is sacred even to children these days....I think its truly sad......I had heroes once......

Good advice to follow

Beginning today I will no longer worry about yesterday. It is in the past and the past will never change. Only I can change by choosing to do so. Beginning today I will no longer worry about tomorrow....
