About Me

As of Thursday June 12th 2008, the handals are no more, I could give a million reasons why this has happened, but we'll just say thanks to everyone who ever came to a handals gig, to everyone we've played with;Burning Hells, Station Road, Kiwi, Hostile Combover, The Focus Group, BreedAbortion, Turbo Johnson, The Stumps, Clear Blue Skies, The Noodles, and The Arty Clarke Experience, if they'd still been a band, maybe i'd continue, but it's just not as fun as it was when we had our little tribe, playing to your mates at some DIY gig we'd throw on, everyone completely wasted, but having fun, and i guess, i'm not "having fun", it's like doing overtime, I must say, everything, we said we'd do we actually did, we got signed, i didn't like the idea of stuff being released so we binned that off, i only ever wanted to play 2 venues, The Cluny and The Carling, we did that too, if we'd had someone to control us and push us, we'd probably have achieved something, but to me, we achieved what we set out to do, have fun, play with cool bands, and do it on our own terms.....Maybe one day, we'll do something else, as another band, but for now, that's all folks.....If you want to know everything read the timeline blog thing. Here are some of the things people have said to or about the handals.
"Fielding the opinion that “the majority of music created at the moment is utter shit” may prompt a few yawns from indie aficionados, but Newcastle trio The Handals have enough sonic kudos to support their statement. Formed from the ashes of Downfall of Gravity, the group’s heady forward thrashing and desert-drawn vocals recall the finer workings of Queens of the Stone Age, whilst adding a hefty dollop of small-town introspection." - Andrew Fenwick (NME / Dazed & Confused / Metro)
"fuck off, stop writing this shit"- Courtney Love.
"your tunes are a proper treat, you're a treat band"- Smiler.
"You have a really groovy nineties retro sound, you definately don't suck..."- Fearne Cotton.
"Get off, you're shit...."- 2 unknown females @ The Head of Steam.
That's pretty much it some people like us and some don't, nevermind....but, i guess that don't matter anymore...
