STINGRAY 45 DISCO ...has been playing reggae music since late nineties although the love and the passion for Jamaican music was within since early days. Fascinated by the influence that reggae music had, and still has on today´s popular music, Stingray members shared the same vision and formed the sound in 1998 with Tobi and Pascal as the selectors and Benedikt playing operator come selector.
Due to the monotony in Ravensburg´s music scene, for sure time was ripe for this home town in the south of Germany to rise up to the occasion. Stingray took the matter seriously and henceforth introduced a monthly dancehall night at the well known club Douala, the event has been successful for more than five years now attracting over 500 patrons each night. After gaining a good experience, Stingray shot to the next level teaming up with Europe’s pioneer soundsystems, singers and deejays like Fireball, Soundsgood Intl, PowPow movement, Kingstone, Roots Rockers, Captain Midnight, Sentinel, Nosliw, Mono& Nikitaman and Jahcoustix to mention but just a few.The crew has a new member on the mic named Otach, born and bred in Nairobi, Kenya. He has been described as one of the most talented and experienced dancehall entertainers ever to come out of Africa. “My first wicked session in Europe was with Stingray in the winter of 2003 and since then i knew this is my sound and my crew“ says Otach.Currently based in Cologne the sound is up front representing dancehall music to the fullest, the selection package comprises of a wide range of carribean style, from the foundation tunes to early hits, from lovers rock to contemporary roots & culture, all this combined with both modern and old school hip-hop, r´n´b, soca and up to the time hardcore dancehall gives the audience nothing but strictly the best. Stingray’s brilliant mix and incredible selections are the strong unique qualities which promise a bright opportunity in the future of dancehall music.Thanks to all reggae entertainers, friends, family members and promoters.
