Kasey

Kasey (formerly known as Kasi) is an indie MC and producer from Helsinki, Finland. He started working on beats already in the early 90's, but his music career didn't really start before 1999, when he joined a group called Sheng-Mo. In the same year he also founded a band called UDS (nowadays known as UDF). Kasey is especially known for his freestyle skills, but he also writes a lot. Kasey has been involved in many underground hip-hop projects, such as Uptown Poets, 80lätkä, Panda Posse, Herätys Massive, etc. He has also been collaborating with emcees in duo projects. People that have put out duo albums with Kasey are Paulos Tylsä, Piste and Kylvö.
Kasey has been part of more than 20 releases. His debut solo album came out in 2004, and it's called Myrsky ('storm' in English). The underground album Myrsky has sold about 1000 copies now (tapes and CD's altogether), and still counting. It was first considered to be a CD for friends, but as the wildfire started to spread, no one could stop it. Myrsky was distributed only through a few underground hip-hop stores in Finland, plus slanging from backpacks.
It all started from rapping in English in 1999, but year by year Kasey moved more into rapping in Finnish. Now he's back working on stuff in English. Stay tuned!
