Personal Information:
I am 23 and graduated May 2005 from SIUC! I really dont like writing these things so I am just going to list some stuff that makes me happy. Enjoy!
List of stuff I like:
Food, Vans Shoes, Red Bull, Loud Music, Being nerdy, creating websites, CUBS, Sushi, Electronic Music, Nintendo, Circuit Bending, Smell of burned up electronics because someone purposly shorted it out and recorded the noises that came out of it....., Bic Pens, Stuff that I don't know how it works, Skatebording, Vinyl Records, Analog modulating oscilators (if you know what that is, i tip my hat to you!), sitting in my overly hot studio trying to crank out the next big hit..., and lot more stuff but i have ADD and cannot finish this list now.
Accomplishments that I am proud of:
I have a bunch of stuff that I am proud of. First, I am proud that I did so well in College (SIUC). I have also performed in many clubs and events ranging from Carbondale to St. Louis, to Chicago! I have always wanted to have an arcade machine in my house, but never could afford one. So what I did was design and build one from scratch! Click here if you want to see it! There is otehr stuff that I will add to this list later.
You know, like nunchuck skills, bowhunting skills, computer hacking skills... Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills.
Music History (My Bio): Yeah, I know, it is in 3rd person.
Scott Danesi (aka DJ Scoto) has been producing various genres of electronic music since 1996. He started under the name MATRIX along with Steve Fox. Steve and Scott released their first self titled album in 1998 which sold locally for the next 6 months. Soon after the release of the album there was an unexpected need for them to change the name of their group. Scott then changed the name to OPTIX. This is when OPTIXmusic Productions was created. Scott then began to produce a solo album titled, The Orbit. It was then released in 1999 under OPTIXmusic Productions. Under OPTIXmusic Productions, Scott began to throw house parties in Carbondale in the year 2000 and made appearances as DJ Scoto at other locations. He then began producing again with Katy Rushin and Wade Van Ommering in 2001 under the name OPTIX. They soon released their first album together called FUSION. This album was sold locally in Carbondale, IL for the next year. Scott then started working by himself again in 2003 and started producing harder tracks that he was able to play at the house parties and events that he was spinning at. It was then in 2004 when he got hooked up with Toy Maker Productions out of Champaign, IL.
After a bunch of work and anticipation Scott has released his first vinyl with various hard techno tracks on it. SC7-001 (Catalog number of the vinyl), released March 15th 2005, has 5 tracks including his Teenage Wasteland Remix, Communication Terminated, Wrong Direction, Sex Drive, and a super secret hidden track. You really can't have a hidden track on a vinyl, but he likes it there.
Starting in early 2005, Scott discovered the art of circuit bending. If you don't know what that is, it is when a toy is modified by connecting switches and resisters to the circuit board which cause it to short out and make very abstract noises. He is currently using a circuit bent Speak and Read, some cheap Wal-Mart piano, and the infamous Nintendo Entertainment System. A few months after he created these freakish toys, he released his first track with a cameo from each of them. The track is a remix of "Tom Sawyer" by Rush which is available in the downloads section of his website.
After his Live PA debut at CaveFest 2005, Scott was invited back to perform on the main stage of Midwest Freakfest in June of 2005. He then created his alternate ego, Dr. Destructo. He now uses this name when he does his live PA of circuit bending madness.
To pay respect to the passing of legendary Robert Moog, Scott decided to start tooling around with DSP (Digital Signal Processing) to create his own VST synthesizer. After about a month of design it was finally ready to be tested and used. This VST Instrument is called Old School and is like no other in existence. What makes his synthesizer different is that the 3 main oscillators can detune from 0% to 100% with a turn of one knob. This VST will be available for download on his website as soon as it is stable enough.
In September of 2005, Scott released his first breaks track to the public. This track titled, Angel to Angel Remix, was an entry for a remix contest of Dave Angel and Angel Alanis. This song is available in the downloads section for his website. This song also features Scotts “Old School†VST Synthesizer.
