About Me

Immigration officials have arrested Alex Nguitte-Kebongo. They says he's a fugitive immigrant who needs to be deported. His family says he's a hard working nurse and a caring father. They fear if he's deported he will be killed back in his native Central African Republic.News 4 talked to Jamie Nguitee, Alex's wife."If he gets deported, because his government is calling him a deserter, he will be detained once he gets off the plane, tortured, and possibly executed," said Jamie. Alex came to the U.S. 15 years ago to participate in a foreign soldiers training program. He specialized in nursing. But as the program wrapped up, his county, the Central African Republic, was in turmoil. The government was being overthrown, and people of his tribe, Yakoma, were being persecuted and killed. Fearing for his life, Alex filed for political asylum, but his requests were denied. "We were told we were doing the process correctly," said Jamie. "It was just a shock to us when we found out we weren't. We just want a chance to be able to make the argument in front of a judge for my husband's right to stay in the country." Until then Alex remains behind bars at the Karnes City Correctional Center and Jamie is left to care for their young four children. Jamie said she doesn't know how long they have to fight for Alex. She says he will be kept in the Karnes City jail until officials get travel documents to deport him. Jamie is asking you to contact Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison to reopen his case.
