Why am I here?

About Me

Having been a carpenter for most of my life, I am now embarking on a character actor career and love it. I have worked in a lot of jobs including Readers Digest where I operated a bursting machine, I was a paper popper who popped perforated paper. I also worked at a transmission shop as a builder and I also did some R&R, this is also where I built a race car and raced at Canyon Racetrack for three seasons. When I was 18 I got a job at the then Mountain Bell Telephone co. as a long distance telephone operator, I worked my way up the company ladder to assistant manager of operator services where I used my personality to advance my career but felt something was missing. I was in line to be the only male manager the phone company had in operator services and on the verge of a 6 figure salary when I threw it all away to become a traveling insurance salesman selling Combined Insurance, a company formed by self help book author and positive mental attitude speaker W. Clement Stone. After 6 months traveling around Arizona to every small town in the state and Silver City, New Mexico I got tired of taking people's money for insurance I did not believe would protect them if anything did happen. I then got a job in a factory that built mobile homes and worked in every department including a stint at building roofs at the roof jig which was outdated for the time and Kaufman & Broad decided to build a new one which I helped design. After working at this mobile home factory for about 2 years I got a job as a framer building custom homes and did this for many years but one day the bottom fell out of the building industry. When I had to find other work I worked at many jobs but the one that stood out was my stay at the Hozhoni Foundation in Flagstaff where I worked with developmentally disabled clients age ranging from 10 to 85. I was never before so rewarded for doing a job but I was not making much money and the building industry was starting back up so I came back to Phoenix and went back to work as a framer. As a framer I was hurt many times including a fall I took where I shattered my heel and this was a sign I may be getting to old to frame so as soon as I could I started working in the trim side of the wood industry installing trim materials was lighter in general unless you include hanging a double 3'0” or 4'0" by 8' door. I have worked with restoration companies and have worked in every stage of building at one point or other. I love working with wood and have been connected with the refurbishing of homes in the Phoenix area all along the way. I have done many jobs and the journey is truly the reward. I hope I have some success with this as it is truly the most fun I have experienced at a job in my life. As a child I wanted to learn to play the guitar but I was left handed and no one took me seriously enough to help. But when I was 48, I was going through some things in my life and needed an escape so I thought I would learn to play now so I contacted my friend and great musician Jimmy Peyton who helped me find a left handed guitar which I would learn to play so we found and I bought a acoustic fender 6 string and prodded my good friend Jimmy Peyton to teach me to play. Today I can play blues bass and am learning more every day. This is what brought me to acting; I got good enough to sit in with my friends band the Midnite Blues Band on stage and when I did I realized I was experiencing stage fright. This is a paralyzing experience and I am not one to lie down and not try to overcome so I went out to find ways to expose myself to extreme stress situations which in my case is speaking in front of anyone so I started going to casting calls and landed a couple of parts. One is " Homeless Burt" in the yet to be released motion picture "Yesterday's Tomorrow" the other is "The Old Man" in a student film, now I find it so much fun to act I would like to push my acting to the next level. Usually I can't find much to say about myself but when asked you see I may go on and on so I'll stop now so you don't get the wrong impression.
