About Me

I'm an ageing rocker who just loves live music. Prog rock is my favourite genre but I do have wide ranging tastes and my record/cd collection is pretty diverse. My all time favourite band is Yes. I first saw them play live at The Brangwyn Halls in Swansea in 1970, Steve Howe had just joined and The Yes Album was about to be released; they were awesome. I've seen them play many times since and over the years they just seem to get better. The last concert was the 35th anniversary tour at the NEC in Birmingham, brilliant.Between 1969 and 1972 I trained as a school teacher at North Bucks College of Education (later Milton Keynes College of Education), which was based in Bletchley Park; the home, we all found out many years later, of the Enigma code breaking machine, which was hugely influential in shortening the Second World War. There is now a museum on the site and I have been there on a number of occasions; it is well worth the visit. It was during those years I developed my love of going to live gigs. Not too far away in Dunstable, at the Queensway Hall, I attended countless gigs over that period; The Nice, Pink Floyd, Family, Status Quo, Beck, Bogert & Appice, The Soft Machine, Wishbone Ash, Stray, Hawkwind, Home were among the bands I remeber seeing there.London was also easy to get to by train and I remember seeing Yes at The Rainbow Theatre and at The Crystal Palace Bowl and Joan Baez at The Empire Pool Wembley; when did I get time to do any studying?I moved to Corby in 1973, where I taught for 6 years and where I met my wife; we will have been married 33 years this year.I still go to gigs on a regular basis and over the years have seen many of my fgavourite bands and artists; far too many to list.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

My Interests

As well as music; reading Sci Fi & Fantasy novels. The cinema and the theatre. Faffing on the internet, very relaxing.

I'd like to meet:

I've been fortunate in recent years to meet some of my musical heroes; Jon Anderson & Rick Wakeman from Yes, Roger Chapman from Family, what a great singer he is, Keith Emerson & Lee Jacxkson from The Nice, Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone and Roy Harper, twice now, amongst others. It's really good to see artists having meet and greet sessions after shows now, particularly at smaller venues like The Stables.I was thrilled to meet and chat to Roy Harper, I have loved his music since I first heard Folkjokeopus, he is one THE GREAT singer songwriters; controversial maybe but great all the same.I would really like to meet Steve Howe, Ritchie Blackmore and Jeff Beck, three of the world's best ever guitar players. Deep Purple are not the same band without Ritchie Blackmore, but now we have Blackmore's Night who I really like. Plan to see them on their UK tour this year, maybe I'll bump into him then, who knows?
