The Dynamos

Groin-Grabbingly Good!

About Me

THE DYNAMOS waste no time unleashing a barrage of tightly arranged pop influenced rock songs with a loose cannon attitude. Striking the perfect balance of spontaneity and precision, their rollicking energy is contagious. With a stage presence that looms large, but never overshadows the music, The Dynamos quickly prove themselves honest, unpretentious, and fully committed to delivering an exhaustive rock n' roll experience.
At the moment of their introduction in the winter of 2002 by a mutual friend who is now a monk, Guy Grace (guitar, vocals) and Tim Hough (drums) discovered a common interest in writing and performing classic alternative rock n' roll inspired by the likes of The Replacements, Flamin' Groovies, The Stooges, and Guided by Voices. Following a brief period of rehearsals and open mic performances, Guy and Tim recorded a handful of Guy Grace originals for release on Vitatone Records and they quickly found their music had great potential. To help them move closer to realizing that potential, Tim's long-time associate Joe Mroz (guitar) joined their ranks with an armload of sweet pop songs that would quickly come to define the band's direction. With a rapidly flourishing catalog of songs, Guy Grace invited instrumentalist Derek Young (bass) of local favorite Hoyne to add his meaty tone, unique melodic sense, and manly rock attitude. Sonically consummated and thirsty for action, the band began performing in mid 2003 as The Dynamos.
Since their debut, The Dynamos have embraced the wide spectrum of Chicago music venues - from Big Horse to Beat Kitchen, Mutiny to McCormick Place, and seemingly everywhere in between. A 2005 show at Milwaukee's The Rave in support of Dinosaur, Jr. introduced the band to our neighbors to the north. A deep love of writing and performing keeps them charging ahead with an ever expanding catalog of original rock music and frequent live performances.
In 2004 The Dynamos completed a 5 song EP named 'Keep it Together' at Fabien Vander's FABSOUND studio in Chicago. The CD was well received and contains what are now core songs in every performance. More recently, the band completed the full length recording "Get Dynamized" at On Track studios in Deerfield, IL. "Get Dynamized" showcases the bands versatility without compromising the ideals responsible for their success. Both recordings are available via the band's website .
The Dynamos take pride in delivering explosive, carefully crafted songs at a furious pace, and with a smile. You are guaranteed to be 'DYNAMIZED'.
