About Me

I like good books and good movies. I like to talk about good books and good movies. I like to drink coffee whole talking about good books and good movies. I work in the addiction treatment field as a counselor and program administrator. I go to school for psychology and biology. I hope to work as a PA one day in addiction medicine. I love wacky, kooky, strange, odd and off people. I am very laid back and live to socialize with interesting folk. Oh, yea...love folk music too.

My Interests

My major interest in life is finding good ways to relax and unwind. I LOVE reading, movies, and being outside in the sunshine. In fact as long as it involves the sunshine I can be convinced to do most things. On the other hand I do love alone time including hanging out at my quiet house on the porch.

I'd like to meet:

I would like to meet people who are also struck in some meaningful way by the quotes below.

All great deeds and all great thoughts have a ridiculous beginning. Great works are often born on a street corner or in a restaurant's revolving door. -Albert Camus

"Heroism on command, senseless violence, and all the loathsome nonsense that goes by the name of patriotism -- how passionately I hate them!" -Einstein

I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can't see from the center. Kurt Vonnegut

Everything fades and alternatives exclude. - John Gardner

"It occurred to him that his scarcely perceptible attempts to struggle against what was considered good by the most highly placed people, those scarcely noticeable impulses which he had immediately suppressed, might have been the real thing, and all the rest false." - Tolstoy "The death of Ivan Illiych"

Music:

Hmmm...Long list here. Love all kinds of music and I shun no geners. Some of my favorites are TOOL, The Boss, Okkervil River, Johnny Cash, Modest Mouse Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart, old David Bowie, The Cramps, Cohen, Interpol etc. I loved every band I saw at Lollapalloza 08

Movies:

My favorite movie of all time is the Seventh Seal by Ingmar Bergman. That should say enough about me and movies, although recently I have loved Little Miss Sunshine, V for Vendetta and have rediscovered my love for American beauty.

Television:

I like Penn and Teller Bullshit and the Boondocks on Adult Swim. Pretty much love everything on Adult Swim.

Books:

Favorite book hands down is Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Other favorites include The Twilight of Idols, Crime and Punishment, Harry Potter Series, The Belgarath Series (all 10 books), Catch 22, Slaughterhouse 5, 1984, Justine, The Death of Ivan Ilych, The Stranger, The Road, All things Poe and Vonnegut etc. on and on.

Heroes:

Friedrich Nietzsche, Martin Luther King Jr., Napoleon, my Grandfathers, Ender Wiggin, my Mother, John Locke, Aristotle, The Dahli Lama etc. on and on.
