About Me

Why I'm not worried about the November election, and you shouldn't be, either!
Exhibit A:

Exhibit B:

Wicked Funny Shit Here:

My husband went to San Diego, and all I got was this wicked awesome air freshener!

"General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

This layout was handmade with love by the folks at My space or yours? Go get one!

My Interests

My family, music, reading, gardening, concerts, dancing, cooking, and long, slow, deep, wet, soft kisses that last 3 days.

..

..

I'd like to meet:

Socrates, Napoleon, Genghis Khan, Billy the Kid, Joan of Arc, Beethoven, Sigmund Freud and Abraham Lincoln. In a phone booth at the Circle K.

Oh, and running into this guy in a dark alley wouldn't exactly suck, either.

Music:

MUSIC FREAK! No country please, but otherwise I'll listen to almost anything, from alt-rock to 80's new wave. If it's got a good beat and is easy to dance to, I'll give it a 9. One minute I can be banging my head, next minute I've gotta boogie. 70's R&B makes me randy. Some people have "comfort food", I've got "comfort music" instead...sometimes I just wanna hear what I used to love when I was 8. Spin the wheel on my iPod and you'll find Henry Boy, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Weezer, Nirvana, Spoon, The Fixx, R.E.M, The Beatles, STP, Dave Matthews Band, Earth Wind & Fire, Crowded House, Duran Duran, Def Leppard, Snow Patrol, Journey, Smithereens, The Ramones, The Chi-Lites, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Tower of Power, Jimmy Eat World, Snow Patrol, Living Colour, Marvin Gaye, Oasis, Pearl Jam, Alicia Keys, Sublime, U2, Prince, The Knack, The Hives, Tears For Fears, David Bowie, Cheap Trick, Elvis Costello...and for moments of weakness and syrupy-sweet nostalgia, The Hudson Brothers, The Partridge Family and the Bay City Rollers.

Movies:

Lars and the Real Girl, Superbad, Little Miss Sunshine, The Departed, Say Anything, What's up Doc?, Love Actually, Crash, Bull Durham, Bridget Jones Diary, Harold and Maude, The Breakfast Club, High Fidelity, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Young Frankenstein, A Fish Called Wanda, About a Boy, Field of Dreams, The Notebook, Children of a Lesser God, Hook, Finding Nemo, Tin Cup, I Am Sam, Grease, The Full Monty, Braveheart, Life as a House, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Dances With Wolves, The Green Mile, Philadelphia, Moonstruck, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, and that's the short list. Steven Seagal and Predator make me wanna throw up.

Television:

Grey's Anatomy, baby! Countdown w/Keith Olbermann, Heroes, Dancing With the Stars, Trading Spaces, The Daily Show, CSI Miami, and Deadliest Catch.

Books:

Voracious reader when the kids give me quiet time--HA! Love good fiction, spiritual, mysteries/thrillers and naturally, a good love story. Anything by Barbara Kingsolver, Anna Quindlen, Sue Monk Kidd, Stephen King, Rosamunde Pilcher, Pat Conroy, Anita Shreve, John Grisham, Tom Robbins, Sherman Alexie, Sylvia Browne...

Heroes:

My lovely daughters, Valerie and Brenna. Amazing young women who make me infinitely proud to be their mom.

Love, Part 7: Love and War in Times of Death

It's amazing to me how death can bring out the very best in people...or the very worst.   I don't think there is any middle ground, at least not in my experience.  I have been fortunate...

Well, whoop-de-FUCKIN-doo!

So, I started out my day at work last Wednesday by getting a balloon.  Yup, when you have your best day in sales ever, the Big Old Expensive Phone Company rewards you with a balloon.  Oh, an...

To my big brother...

Dear Scott,I'm still having a hard time believing you are gone.  We've fallen so far out of touch over the last few years, it's almost easier to pretend that you're just off on a grand adventure ...

Love, Part 6: This Aint The Summer of Love

More cowbell is apparently not the only legacy left us by Blue Oyster Cult.  The infernal internal jukebox kicked in this morning with "things ain't what they used to be, and this ain't the ...

Love, Part 5: Interstate Love Trip, and Where To Now?

Sorry it's taken so long...I was under the delusion that I would come back from Arizona relaxed and rejuvenated, and ready to regale my friends with the wonders of my trip. HA! Life stepped in with 8 ...

Stay tuned...

I know, I know...it's been a long absence.  Not that there hasn't been any love in my life to write about--it's just been buried between car trouble, a couple trips to the dentist, and turmoil at...

Love, Part 4: Fear Is Not An Option

As most of you know, there have been big changes afoot in the Denham household over the last few weeks.  After a 9-month separation and within days of our divorce becoming final, Gary and I recon...
