Balkan Club Music

About Me

Hojfen Balagan consists of ten young musicians who grew up in the area of Lund in southern Sweden. The band has existed since 2004 and since their founding, Hojfen Balagan has played aprox. 180 gigs all over Sweden, including the Arvika festival, the Malmö festival, the Urkult festival, Dunkers Culture House in Helsingborg, Mejeriet in Lund, KB and Inkonst in Malmö and Stallet in Stockholm. The've also played the German club Knust in Hamburg and are frequent guests in Oslo, Norway. The band has collaborated with artists like Östblocket, Tummel and Orientexpressen. In 2006 the band released their single "Bosh Bosh" and opened the official website www.hojfenbalagan.com. The band traveled the Balkans in the summer of 2007 and attended the Amala summer school in Serbia for one week, learning romani music by ear from some of Serbias finest musicians, whom one of them has played with Boban Marcovic. The summer of 2007 was also the start for their own club "Diskoteka Jugo Style", the first two times held outdoors at Josips back yard, with free food and booze for all guests, and the third time it will be held at the venue "Mejeriet" in their native town Lund.
