Nineteen- year- old female rapper, Keke, is out to not only prove that she can survive, but that she has what it takes to take the music industry by storm. Hailing from Dallas, Texas as the third daughter of Nigerian born parents, Keke has been rapping since the age of ten. At the age of fifteen, Keke created a buzz with her single “Freestyle Pro”, which attracted attention from producers, record labels, radio personalities and listeners in Dallas and surrounding areas. “Freestyle Pro”, was retired after a 12-week win on 89.3 KNON’s “Jam It or Damn It” segment hosted by Bobo Luchiano and DJ Fish.In 2003, Keke was a participant in 97.9 the beat radio personality DJ Big Bink’s “In My Streets freestyle contest. Bink, impressed by keke’s skills, invited the young artist to be interviewed live on the air during his program. She later entered the freestyle battle competition hosted by 97.9 The Beat’s Supa K & Keynote to which she was retired after a 13 week win in 2004 followed by a four week win before being retired in 2006.Keke participated in the 2002-2005 Mesquite Battle of the bands solo artist category in which she was the only rap/hip-hop act. She competed against various rock, soul, and country solo artist. Keke not only received a standing ovation, but managed to take home the first place cash prize for three consecutive years along with being featured in The Mesquite News each time.Keke’s style is a combination of lyricism mixed with a southern flow. It is this unique style that earned her the opportunity to open for famous acts such as Shawnna, Paul Wall, Eight Ball & MJG & Juvenile.Keke was invited to perform at the 4th Annual Texas Summer Music Conference, one of the largest urban film, fashion and music conferences in the United States. She received praises from Jeremy Miller, President of The Source Magazine, Jeff Robinson, CEO of MBK Entertainment, J-Records recording artist, Smitty, Skip Cheatham, Program Director for K104FM and Leo G, Program Director for XM Satellite Raw 66 among others. Keke is currently in the studio working on her second album “New Breed of Chick”.
