Lately, she's hearing people use the words “captivating” and “soulful” and even “relaxing” when they refer to her voice. This blows her mind. “I’m a writer,” she says insistently. “God just blessed me with the gift of song too.” So, J just smiles at the love and support & says “thanks.” All she can do is thank God for the talents that He has given to her.J. Michelle's passion for music started with the piano at age 4. By the time she was 9 she had composed her first poem into a song. By age 13, she had turned thirty five of her poems into verse, among them one of her favorites even today. At age 16, J realized how serious her singing had become when she was approached by a management team after performing at her cousin's wedding. They liked her so much that the team met with her that same day. But J felt she still wasn't ready, & her parents encouraged her to stay in high school then decide on things from that point. After graduating from high school, she headed to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. J hoped to pursue her music career with a degree in Music Administration. While attending the University of Alabama she met and began working with several producers, who involved her in projects, which ranged from Hip-Hop to Soul. By age 21, J was blessed to work with the talented producer GRAMMY AWARD WINNING producer/songwriter GARY BAKER, who is best known for All 4 One's hit single "I Swear" and Lone Star's, "I'm Already There". In 2006 she worked with The Velvet Teddy Bear, Rubben Studdard.Today J. Michelle continues to perform around the south. In 2008 she joined with two wonderful friends to form a trio girl group, Denim. J comments on that: “We’re not a true group – we just happened to be three hot friends that could sing and thought, why not?” Her main focus is still to be a solo artist and has a great band and team behind her. She’s also affiliated with some of the most talented local artists & producers in the indie industry, including up and coming R&B songstress, Ashley Guin.J’s debut album, Lovespace, released on various online music sites in May of 2009. Her official release is projected to be in early July. Most of the masterful production was created by the hands of J. Ross of Rossco Productions, Inc., and one “captivating” track by C. Williams, co-producer at the time of her album creation."I can only pray that the Lord will lead me in the right direction and will keep blessing me as He has thus far. I love & thank everyone who has pushed me to stay motivated, focused & true to myself."

Band Members: Right now, I am working with a small team, but I love the feeling of family within the business, so this is perfect for me!First, there is JRoss, who is the founder and CEO of RossCo Productions, Inc. He is my producer and engineer whom I've been working with now for about 4 years. He's the one that knows what I'm thinking, feeling, and sometimes about to say! It's scary sometimes, but we call it a VIBE. That's the thing that all artists and producers need to make great music!Curtiss Williams, also a part of RossCo, is a producer for the company as well. He actually produced "captivated" one of the songs on my Lovespace album. His production style is clearly that of a genius!Aubrey "The Biggest" Delaine, one of the founders of Common Ground Entertainment does the mastering for my music. He's also an undiscovered rapper and a great producer, so look out for him too!!!!Toni Kinion of Coccroach Records has my buisness wheels turning. He has me looking at the flipside of making my talent and skill work for decades to come, not just an album or two. We will definitely be working together in the future. Then there is Steve King. What can I say? He's my business mind, my manager. Another man that seems to know me almost better than I know myself. He has truly helped me come more out of my shell and stop being afraid to show my talent to the world. He's based in NY right now and is the founder and CEO of Regalia Entertainment, LLC.I love all these guys and I never have to worry when I know they have my back!!!!I am searching for more band members right now so I can start putting some shows together, so if anybody's interested in playing for me, please let me know!!!!!
Influences: My influences range from Ella Fitzgerald all the way up to Beyonce! I listen to every genre, because I pull variations of energy from each style. I believe I can sing anything, so I listen to it all in order to find my place within the style. I love soul, so I'm really into Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Angie Stone, Lauryn Hill- do I really have to keep going? Then there is Mint Condition, Take 6, Boys II Men, Salt n Pepa. Aaron Hall, Brian McKnight, Stevie Wonder, Cahaka Khan, Chico DeBarge, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight.... My fingers are tired, but you get the idea!
Sounds Like: Most people say I sound like the Jill Scott type. All I can say is I sound like J.Michelle!!
Record Label: RossCo Productions, Inc.
Type of Label: Indie
