So, I Thought I Could Dance... in April I traveled to Atlanta to audition for So You Think You Can Dance, as a hideous joke, I rolled my ankle and ripped my calf muscle 24hrs before I left for the ATL, I decided to trudge forward and go, I waited a hideous 12 hours(!!!!!!) in the theatre before I auditioned. Before hand I was subjected to numerous types of people, to my right I had the strangest weirdest guy you'd ever meet (Shaun) and to my left was the cutest, sweetest girl you could hope to meet (Shauna). Gag me, I know, Shaun and Shauna, is this some sort of Disney special? So You Audition, not to a song of your choice, just to whatever the hell the judges feel like playing you...and you better make it hot. We only got to see 2 groups of people audition in front of us, so the rest of the time it was you and the people you were squished next to in your seats, I saw some people who most assuredly should've made it through to see the real judges and some people who were a HOT ASS MESS and also got to see the judges. If the dancers around you liked what they saw they would cheer for you, and I was mortified hoping that someone would clap for me when I went to tear it up. I watched as Shauna picked her leg up above her head and spun around and I watched as Shaun threw his body on the ground and spun on his head, in the midst of that was me dipping it low and picking it up slow. People cheered for all of us and another guy in our group as well...the music stops and they announce which numbers move on to the next round. If you're really special they stop the song and advance someone to the next round, which happened to be Shauna. Otherwise they line you up, call your number, and if they don't call your number they dismiss you with, literally, the wave of a hand. Shauna, Shaun and this wretched belly dancer advanced to the next round. I will be going back next year and trying again, not only because I know that I am capable of it, I know that it is something that is real and tangible as I was seated next to someone who is right now in Hollywood on this very show... everyone who was there that day shared a love of dance and music, and I will be doing more training to try to get me there next year, because I know I Can Dance. Tangent over, love dance is what I guess I should've said. I also like to read, watch TIVO (there truly is a God), go to movies and avidly download new music- which I do daily.
