Lindisfarne doesn't stand a chance

About Me

I'm equal parts rock star and mad scientist (ed: the drunk part of "rock star" and the socially inept part of "scientist"). Friends would say bullshit. I've been known to get drunk and dance, make noise and call it "music", and watch very bizarre movies... repeatedly. I crave new experiences and travelling, something I do far too rarely. I've also got a bizarre and sarcastic sense of humor. I'm able to see the absurdity inherent in all facets of life, and can experience it on several levels. I've started working with theatrical combat again, and it is awesome.

My Interests

Krikey, too many to mention. Computers, RPGs, music of all sorts, strange lil films, movies about Vikings, guitars, swords and the use thereof. Ireland and the rest of Europe. Hell, other places in general. I love history, and don't know nearly enough. Puzzles and mind exercises. Novels. Good cookin'. Beer, mead, wine, absinthe.

I'd like to meet:

Cool and unique people. Beautiful women, smart men, sentient plants, whatever it takes to make an impression. Did I mention beautiful women already? ;) Anyone who knows how to construct basic sentences, or can use MS Paint to get their point across. Bonus points for the geeky and the insane.

Music:

Last Concert: Guggenheim Grotto, Luke Something-Or-Other
I listen to just about everything. Audioscrobbler has some recent plays of mine. At work I listen to some internet radio stations. But here's the obligatory list of music that shows either my diverse taste in music or my irrational taste in music. The Decemberists, Dimmu Borgir, Wumpscut, Motley Crue, Switchblade Symphony, Fiendflug, Motley Crue, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Ministry, Sisters Of Mercy, Bauhaus, Cradle of Filth, Theatre Of Tragedy, Christian Death, Nick Cave, Aphex Twin, Flogging Molly, The Pogues, Dropkick Murphys, The Haunted, Danzig, Swans, Bruce Springsteen, Sepultura, Hedningara, The Dubliners, Johnny Cash, Voltaire, Einherjer, Manowar, Metal Church, Motorhead, Electric Six, Opeth, Pantera, Tool, Chiasm, Green Andy, Covenant, Mr. Bungle, Portishead, Massive Attack, Dethklok

How to shove off an old year.

You know the kind of year I'm talking about, the one that's been kicking around for months just gathering dust and cobwebs, and you use it because it's the only year you've got at the moment, but you ...

This is how the year ends

with a bang! Two weeks of vacation, not *having* to get into work for the team meeting every morning and not trying to hammer out relevant code that you know is going to be thrown away and forgotten. ...

Watching strippers with the folks

Thanksgiving weekend. One of the staples of the average American's relaxation diet. It brings to mind family, a short week and a large roasted turkey, stuffed to the gills (!) and surrounded by cranbe...

Weekend

Friday, busy. A couple of birthdays, including one of my friends turning the big 30, which I'll be experiencing in all its glory in a few weeks. His wife rented a barn way out down Liberty, which turn...

Ramblin', where to begin...

It isn't often that a live concert strikes you in that funny spot between technical brilliance with instruments and a chaotic theatricality, but the Decemberists were aiming true on Tuesday night. I'l...

Of Dylan, Peppers and Fire

This was a busy weekend. By weekend, I mean a proper weekend, starting on Thursday. On Thursday I was informed that yes, I did in fact ask for a ticket to the Bob Dylan show to be picked up in my name...

Halloween!

And... there. I ran out of candy. Next year I'll have to buy more. I thought the leftovers from the movie night would suffice, because I saw one kid walking through the 'hood when I drove in from work...

Fantastically Awesome Weekend

Well, this has been a great weekend. And it isn't over yet. On Friday around 10 or so folks gathered at my new digs and we watched a few movies of the spooky kind (and one of the retarded kind). We st...

Swords

For the first time in several years, I crossed swords yesterday with someone else... and I don't mean sex. I mean, literally, attacked and defended with swords. And I loved it. A small group of like-m...
