As mentioned earlier, writing is my passion in life. Sometimes I like to get myself lost on the hillsides around SB, windows down to smell the air. I enjoy seeing musical acts around town when I have the chance, like at SOhO or the Lobero and Arlington theaters. Heading downtown on the weekends with good friends is also on the list: Sharkeez, Q's, Dargan's, Wildcat, Pressroom, good ol Old King's Road.
Anyone who is kind and open-minded in life, anyone willing to smile and shake a hand without giving someone a once-over first.
God, what DONT I like. I have more favorites than I can list, but I regularly listen to Bruce Springsteen, Leonard Cohen, Tommy Castro, Evanescence, Linkin Park, The Gypsy Kings, Johnny Cash, Metallica, Dave Matthews Band, U2, Dwight Yoakam, Loreena McKennitt, Los Straitjackets, E Nomine, OOF!, Collective Soul, Conjure One, Tom Russell, Dave Alvin, Eliza Gilkyson, Greg Trooper, Disturbed, Reamonn, Buddy Guy, Chris Rea, Coldplay, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Bush, Fuel, Reel Big Fish, Apocalyptica, Nelly Furtado, Eminem, Katie Melua, Norah Jones, Wyclef Jean, Pink Floyd, Luciano Pavarotti, Emma Shapplin, Arcade Fire, BT, Edvard Grieg, Richard Wagner, Maurice Ravel, that Beethoven guy... Yeah, Classical, Opera, Blues, Rock, Pop, Techno/House/Electronica, Hip-hop, Alternative, Doo-Wop, R&B, Metal, Folk/Americana, you name it and I probably have some in my collection. If I don't, fully money back refund.
Again I have too many favorites to list, ssoooooo I'm just not going to bother.
Battlestar Galactica, Rome, The Sopranos, The Dresden Files, The Shield, The Unit, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Hardball with Chris Matthews, Three Sheets, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations. I have some weekly favorites, I may not watch them all the time, but some I try harder to keep up with than others.
"Ivanhoe" by Walter Scott. Anything by H.P. Lovecraft. The PERN series by Anne McCaffrey. Warhammer 40,000 and BATTLETECH novels (love my cheesy action sci-fi). Anything that Dave Barry writes. "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them" by Al Franken, "The Truth, With Jokes" by Al Franken, "Letters to my Son" by Kent Nerburn, "America: The Book" from Comedy Central, "Neuromancer" and "Count Zero" by WIlliam Gibson, "The Book of Longing" by Leonard Cohen. I have sooo many books on my shelves and I'm just blanking out on names right now.
All of the great progressive thinkers in history, and those in our own time working to change our world for the better. If you are unafraid to speak your mind about your feelings, or to tell those people close to you what they mean to you, you very well might be my hero. If you strive for meaning and appreciation in your life, not money and possessions for their own sake, you might be my hero. I say it perhaps too often, but as Oscar Wylde put it: "Who, being loved, is poor?" That kind of person is my hero.
