The name of the band means “binoculars†and refers to the “Coke bottle†eyeglasses that David, the singer, wore when he was a kid, but also serves to describe a very strong mix of naïve pop and noise. You can also find many Japanese girls dancing wild in the front row at their concerts.

Il s'agit de Binoculars (photo : Elie Jorand), quatuor racé, sorte de mélange entre Stereolab et Low. CQFDSous influence des quelques guitares US les plus classes du monde (Feelies, Yo La Tengo), le psychédélisme racé et aérien d’Americano-Parisiens très fréquentables.
POP ONLY KNOWSUne oreille amie (merci Chtotakoï !) nous avait averti: Binoculars, c'est terrible. Et elle avait raison. Here Comes, le nouvel hymne des Binoculars, est une formidable chanson qui débute très pop, puis part sur la fin vers d'autres territoires, comme la noisy-pop fièvreuse (un peu à la Feelies). C'est furieusement addictif (ah ces choeurs qui s'entrecroisent !), et ca passe en boucle chez nous. Les trois autres morceaux proposés en écoute sur leur My Space sont tout aussi bien, notamment Suspect qui lorgne plus vers Sonic Youth.

[email protected]***BIO***After a failed career teaching theatrical fencing in Rome, Dan went to Paris and met David while working in a slaughterhouse in the not so fashionable Parisian suburb of Rungis.
One day they were dumping bones and offal into a huge skip and they looked at each other and said...There must be more to life than this.
After working overtime they saved up to buy musical instruments and looked for a drummer.
One day, completely by coincidence, their shift manager at the slaughterhouse, Thierry, turned up after seeing an advert in a drum shop.
After considerable effort the three are now able to work on more vegetarian, creative and less bloody endeavors.
