About Me
If you are hungry for a different sound then you found the right page. My name is Ayo(pronounced I-YO). I am a Nigerian born native raised in Alabama(The first southern African you'll meet). No I'm not mandinka or Zulu: I'm 50% Yuroba, the other half is Igbo. I grew up in Anniston, Alabama most of my childhood. My mom is a single mother of five, me being the only son. Growing up poor was hard on us but my mom was able to pull through and successfully see all her children grow into adults. I always enjoyed writing but hip hop did not become a big part of me until the early 90s. "Southernplayalistikcadillacmusik" by Outkast, "Brenda's Got A Baby" by Tupac, and "My Mind's Playing Tricks On Me" by Geto Boys were the tracks that captured me into the music culture that has influenced the world. Before that I was a true "Video Soul"junkie(you know..dude with the S-Curl and the lady that was always pregnant). I was into Old School R&B and Soul music as a child. My mom didn't really care for rap music unless it was Tupac.
Like most artist today, I am headed to Atlanta to get my music on the airwaves. Even though I question a lot of songs that make it to the radio, Atlanta seems to be the Mecca for breaking new artist. It has become what Detroit was in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. I feel that I make music that can appeal to those who want to listen. Does that make sense? You won't get the whole dope boy-trap stories from me....because I never lived it. Don't expect me to talk about ice, rims, and making it rain...never did that either. Truth is I grew up poor, spent three years in the military after high school, and spent a few years making coporate America rich working in my liitle cubicle(the life of over 70 percent of this country). My album addresses poverty, war, credit, sorry ass men that don't take of their children, sorry ass women that love them, government, living pay check to pay check, life, death, love, hate, being locked up, Corporate America, Africa, Black people, White people, beautiful people, ugly people, crackers, niggas, bitches, and hoes. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT: THAT REAL SHIT!!!! BE SURE TO CHECK OUT MY MUSIC AND PICTURES AND FEEL FREE TO ADD TO MY PAGE AND DROP ME A COMMENT. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!! KEEP YOUR HEAD UP....THERE'S ALWAYS ANOTHER DAY ANOTHER DOLLAR!!!
