The Oblivious Humans are a grunge rock band based out of Portland, TN. TOH began 4 years ago with it's original members Jay Cathcart, Jacob Basham, and Josh Harris. After a year they all set out on their separate ways to pursue their own musical careers. After a year Jay Cathcart and Josh Harris started the band again with new guitar player Blake Briley. They soon reunited with their old guitar player Jacob Basham. Blake left the band to pursue his own career. And thats when The Oblivious Humans found Teddy Roberts. Teddy fit into the band perfectly and soon The Oblivious Humans began writing. Creating such songs as I Won't Be, You've Got A Gun, and Sloth. Soon after Josh Harris left the band to move to Dover, TN. The Oblivious Humans were left without a drummer and 3 weeks to prepare for their debut show at Lyrix. Thats when they met their new drummer Nick Edwards. Nick came into the band and along with Jacob added a little edge to the music. The Oblivious Humans began writing again this time the songs were a little more grungy and hard. The Oblivious Humans added many songs to their list with Nick, writing songs such as Lost In Forever, Kingdom Of Dirt, Stumpgrind, Victim To Your Kiss, and their hit song "ROT". With a few shows and a growing fan base under their belts The Oblivious Humans began recording their first EP. It was entitled When We Were Creatures and featured 3 songs. Nick left the band for a short amount of time do to personal issues. At this point The Oblivious Humans had began making a name for themselves around Middle Tennessee. They were featured on 102.9 The Buzz they had played some of the biggest venues in Nashville, and they were receiving huge amounts of support from their local fans. They were soon introduced to Jason Uselton (Former drummer of Fuel). With Jason in the band The Oblivious Humans began to grow even more. They won the Gorilla Productions Battle Of The Bands,Advanced through the first 3 rounds of the Bodog Battle Of The Bands, and wrote one of their biggest songs entitled I Shot A Man. The Oblivious Humans were going far with Jason as their new drummer, however it ended abruptly when Jason shot himself in the foot with a shotgun. The Oblivious Humans reunited with old drummer Josh Harris and new bass player Paul Yates for a short time to play a few shows. And then took a short month long break. Now The Oblivious Humans have joined together with Nick Edwards to continue their music career. They will be featured on MTV's Making The Label on September 4th and they are playing the biggest festivals in Nashville throughout the entire year. They have also began work with a new booking company called J&T Booking. The current lineup of The Oblivious Humans is as follows Jay Cathcart (Lead Singer), Jacob Basham (Lead Guitar/Backup Vocals), Teddy Roberts (Rhythm Guitar), Vince Edwards (Bass), and Nick Edwards (Drums).
