GREAT VAST FOREST
Formed by Surgath back in the Winter of 1994, Great Vast Forest plays an epic and yet extreme sort of music that recreates the atmosphere of blood-filled battlefields where by the blades of axes and swords countless warriors met their destinies and made up their glories. This music was labeled as Barbarian Black Metal.
In November of 1998 the band's first official demo-tape was recorded. Entitled "Where the Warriors Ride..." This demo contains three hymns of pagan cruelty and had a great repercussion in the underground. After playing several gigs in the majestic southern lands, the band entered the studio once again in February of 2001, this time to record its debut album: "Battletales and Songs of Steel" was released in May of 2002 on Evil Horde Records (Murder Rape, Azaghal, Averse Sefira).
In 2004 an EP entitled "Blood of Wolves" was recorded. After the recording the band line-up was reformulated and since the end of 2006 it has been playing gigs and has been working on material for new releases. The new compositions sound way more epic and have more sophisticated arrangements, setting the Barbarian Black Metal practiced by the band to a new standard.
The actual line-up has Surgath (vocals), Trolläusen (guitars), Gaurhoth (guitars), Demona (bass), Skäriath (drums) and Corvus (keyboards).
