About Me
Indiana Youth Group
The Indianapolis LGBT Film Festival is an annual fundraising event benefiting the Indiana Youth Group (IYG), a non-profit organization founded in 1987 to serve the needs of Indiana LGBT teens.
IYG provides a safe place, a confidential environment, and services which foster self-esteem, resiliency, and positive decision-making skills among self-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender young people (up through age 21), and advocates on their behalf in schools, on the streets, and in the community.
IYG's youth activity center has free social activities and support groups/programming on: Coming out, Vocational testing/counseling, Sex, dating & relationships, Creative writing, Tobacco-free lifestyle, Scholarships, Visual arts, and Sexually transmitted disease/infection education, prevention, and testing. All of IYG's $214,000 operating budget must be raised annually from donations, grants, and special events including the Indianapolis LGBT Film Festival.
