Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.

About Me

It’s unlikely that I can describe myself accurately - once I think I understand certain aspects of my personality, it seems they're already in the process of changing. But for the sake of the myspace circus I’ll give it a whirl anyhow...
You could probably say that I walk to the beat of my own drummer; I like to think of myself as a free spirit and a free thinker. Sometimes I feel disconnected from those around me - unless they are people I consider close, which are few. I’m often a study in contradiction, so if you can figure me out then you’ll probably be the first.
I play hard, work hard, and relax even harder still. And I tend to do too much of one at any given time. I believe balance should be a defining feature of my life, yet it’s generally in short supply for me.
I’m a natural born leader and teacher; subordinate positions do not usually sit well with me. I can and often do question the “rules”, sometimes even to the point of being anti-establishment. Not because I want to make waves, but because I can often find a better way.
I strongly resist change, yet thrive on it. I hold onto people, places, and things much longer than what makes sense, knowing full well I should have moved on sooner. Most often I prefer peace and quiet, even solitude - although I find that I have a big need for adventure in my life too, whether it be hiking new places, surfing new stretches of coastline, or just doing something recklessly ridiculous.
I have a great many dreams and ambitions, perhaps too many, but avoid taking action to achieve them sometimes. Not sure why I do that but I’m trying to stop (or is it start?).
On my own I’m remarkably driven (probably obsessively) to learn every last detail I can about subjects I'm inspired by. But the second I'm required to study something uninteresting I will likely procrastinate it to the point of failure.
I am heavily motivated by respect and admiration, and will go far out of my way for people that show appreciation. Disrespect hits me a lot harder than most, it's almost like a betrayal. And its nearly always an immediate one way ticket out of my personal life.
I’m not very materialistic, yet I can still appreciate things that make life better ascetically and functionally – without depending on them to create my sense of self worth. I’m usually repulsed by bling or flashy excess just for the sake of showing off.
I hold a fairly unique perspective on both religion and politics but usually avoid discussing either since it seems most people are incapable of remaining open minded.
Small talk usually makes me edgy and large crowds annoy me.
I seem to be perpetually running late.
I sometimes have perfectionist tendencies (maybe even slight ocd).
I'm generally reserved around those I don’t know well, quietly sizing them up at first, but probably too outspoken around those I consider close.
I think too many men are weak and have lost what it means to be men anymore. I also think far too many women are tragically self-centered and spoiled.
I joke around alot. But its unlikely you'll ever see this in person though, unless I consider you a friend.
I’ve moved far too many times in my life and long to achieve some stability soon.
I always defend those that can’t defend themselves, bully the bullies, and tend to root for the underdog.
and I aspire to be… only myself.

My Interests

Roller coasters, surfing, computers, hiking, camping, reading, internet games, movies, or anything involving water or being outdoors really.

I'd like to meet:

Kindred spirits. Anyone with some personal depth who still knows how to be playful. Or anyone else that can trick me into believing my old abandoned blog is actually worth reading =P.

Keep it reasonably clean on the main page please.

Oh yeah, and I have the greatest music play-list ever compiled on myspace so you need to listen to it.

Music:

It's difficult to define my music tastes. I'm all over the board really. All genres. As long as it has an unpolluted sound and/or some lyrical depth I can appreciate it. An acoustic guitar gets me every time but gangster rap, too much screaming, or excessive stupidity will ruin a song for me.

Movies:

August Rush, Office Space, Shawshank Redemption, A Beautiful Mind, Crash, Contact, Fight Club, The Professional, Forest Gump, Heat, Closer, Lord of the Rings, Braveheart, Little Children, Nine Lives, Garden State, Reign Over Me, Beautiful Girls, What the Bleep do we Know, Independence Day, Me You and Everyone we know,Star Wars, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Actors/Actresses: Natalie Portman, Denzel Washington, Claire Danes, John Cusack, Tom Hanks, Liv Tyler, Harrison Ford, Al Pacino, Jodie Foster, Robert De Niro.

Television:

Rarely watch it... I can't stand advertisements poisoning my mind. So instead I download most things I watch such as Nova, UFC, BSG, and some documentaries.

Books:

I try to read whenever I get the chance. Philosophy, technology, fantasy, and physics tend to grab my interest. Authors I admire include Hemingway, Brown, and Feist to name a few.
